Quest Link on Quest 3

I just got my Quest 3 less than a week ago and I'm already ready to return it. I cant stay linked to Meta Quest link via Official Occulus Link Cable or AirLink for longer than 1 session. The next time i try to use my Quest 3 it is not detected by either resource. The only thing I have been able to do is completely uninstall and reinstall all software and several reboots of Quest 3 and PC. Frankly, that is ridiculous. All my PC specs far surpass the minimum and Recommended requirements, my drivers are all up to date, my Link Cable is brand new out of box. I have to go through such a hassle just to use this $500 paperweight basically. Has anyone been able to find a solution that isn't a 30 minute complete reinstall of everything and reconnecting the Quest 3?

@BOHIC12  What pc specs, link cable, ODT, and meta link device graphics settings.  Also, with Air Link what’s your router setup?  Without this basic information it’s impossible to make any suggestions.

Otherwise do a bit more google troubleshooting and maybe contact meta support including your log files to see if they can help.  Good luck mate and cheers.

Windows 11, 11th Gen i7-11700K @3.60 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Game Ready Driver 566.36
Oculus PCVR Link Cable USB 3 Type C

I have had the Air Link work a few times over the past few days, but today for whatever reason my headset desynced from the app and I couldnt forget the device. I uninstalled all Oculus Software, reinstalled fresh, and now neither my link cable nor Air Link works. I was using everything just fine last night, and now I haven't been able to do anything all day. I have even restarted my PC and Quest multiple times and the Meta Quest Link app will not detect my headset, nor will it connect via Air Link. Stays stuck on "Searching for PC"

@BOHIC12  Ok, sounds like you should be getting good results with Link, and as long as your pc is Ethernet connected to your router with Air Link.  I don’t have any problems connecting my Q3 to either.

With both I’ve found it best to startup meta link before my headset.  With Link I connect the link cable before starting up my headset.  Then just go to quick settings panel and select Link (should show pc) and launch.  With Air Link I find it best to go to the link settings panel and wait for all connections to refresh (all green check) the select launch.

i suggest you leave all ODT settings defaults/zeros except distortion low and encoding bitrate 500mbps with Link and zero with Air Link.

Meta link device graphics settings try 80Hz refresh rate with res slider full right.  Avoid 120Hz imho.  With Air Link go to home dashboard far left icon and select 200mbps Dynamic (not fixed).

Windows 10/11 settings disable hardware acceleration graphics (hags) and turn off game mode.  HAGS is enabled by default with win11 btw.  Also, go to windows device manager usb ports properties and any that have a power tab, disable any power saving options.

Nvidia, I suggest using 560.94 and DDU in safe mode to properly uninstall previous drivers beforehand (google how to do this).  Then Nvidia control panel 3d settings all defaults except power = prefer max performance and change the texture quality quality default to high performance.

Sorry, all I can think of right now.  Hope this helps.  Good luck mate and cheers.

Unfortunately PCVR still isn’t plug and play so you do often need to research and troubleshoot things.  Part of the fun for me, but not for all I guess.

If you still have issues I suggest you contact meta support including your log files.

IDK brother.. I've had this thing sitting here for over an hour waiting for the air link to detect and it hasn't. I'm pretty fed up at this point and I think I'm just going to take advantage of the return policy and take it back and stick to PC gaming. Should not be this much of a hassle for this thing to work for a $500+ pricetag. VR/AR/MR seemed really nice but its not worth all this trouble when its supposed to be relaxing and a stress reliever but all it does in generates more stress. Maybe I will try a different brand headset. Honestly don't know why I thought something made by Meta/Facebook would be anything good in the first place.

@BOHIC12  Tbh there isn’t anything better and more versatile below $1,000 imho.  If it’s all too hard then maybe just give VR a miss for now.  The standalone VR is pretty good, and mostly plug and play btw.

Hey @TomCgcmfc just wanted to really thank you. Indeed I had a good USB link. and a good PC. but seems l was being tripped over Windows Dev mode + HAGS + power savings in usb. once I disabled all of that. works like a charm with the latest nvidia drivers. Thanks a lot.
