Hey everyone, just thought I'd share my solution to the typical issues a lot of people have been having linking up and solving unplayable PCVR with their quest 3.
From the start I've been having issues playing pc games such as Halflife Alyx on my Quest 3. But now I seem to have solved my woes at long last... Here's a check list of what I changed and did to get my first proper go playing Halflife Alyx on my Quest 3.
My issues were firstly no sound in the game and secondly poor performance, jittery gameplay and refusal to connect.
I did all of this after performing a factory reset on my quest to make sure the headset was a clean and original as possible.
1. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet via cable. Not WiFi. For a stable connection.
2. Make sure your pc isn't running any sound apps. If so uninstall them or shut them down.
3. Use a (recommended) cable to connect the quest to the PC with power. Avoid using your WiFi to cast as this can slow connections and reduce quality.
4. Make sure your firewall isn't blocking any quest apps ect and the network is trusted.
5. I bought Virtual Desktop from the quest store for 18.99 GBP and use this rather than SteamVR, etc, and have found it to be far superior running VR pc games reliably.
6. Make sure your quest is fully updated with the latest software and your PC is too. For instance the latest graphics drivers for your graphics card.
7. Make sure your PC reaches the minimum specifications required to run VR on the quest.
8. Make sure that your PC has the quest as it's audio device selected in the task bar and that Meta Horizon is installed on your mobile phone is set up fully.
Hope this helps some users get everything running well. I did find that the paid Virtual desktop software on the meta quest app store was the main thing that made my quest start running correctly for PCVR. So this may be the only thing that's needed for some people. It's just a shame it's a paid app and not included as part of buying the quest as well as a PCVR cable in the box, which are an estra cost for using the quest to play PC VR games.

Note that points 3 and 5 are contradictory for most people.
