Quest Pro controllers constantly losing tracking in Beat Saber

chaosthe0ry
Honored Guest

My Quest Pro controllers lose some tracking with every 4-6 blocks, where I lose haptics. After several more blocks, it loses tracking completely for 1-3 seconds ie the controller completely disappears in VR

Hand tracking is off. When it was on, it would completely lose tracking every 8-10 blocks.

Lighting is good. There is lots light, and no sunlight.

surface is a normal wood floor. It is not shiny.

I have completely reset my Quest Pro, and my guardian. It’s still an issue.

No. The problem in my case is shiny surfaces. Our wood floor was too shiny. We had to use a floor mat to fix it.

Hello there, @chaosthe0ry! We understand how this affects your VR experience. Because the controllers aren't tracking correctly. We'd like to pitch in and assist you in getting this resolved as quickly as possible. We'd also like you to try a handful of our recommendations, which we'll leave below if you haven't already.

  • Go through the Meta Quest app and unpair/pair the controllers.
  • If that does not work, manually pair the controller using commands:
    1. To enter pairing mode on each controller, press and hold the Oculus+B (right) or Menu+Y buttons (left) for 3 seconds. You'll feel a light vibration from the front trigger when the controller transitions into pairing mode.
  • Last resort step is to factory reset the controller:
    1. Right Controller: Hold A and Oculus buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
Left Controller: Hold X and Menu buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
    2. Release the buttons immediately after the LED begins blinking red/white.
    3. Perform a manual pairing and check if controller LED would flash blue and white to signal pairing state.
    4. Once paired, controllers may take a while to update and stay unresponsive until they finish, and LED would be purple during the update.

Please let us know how it goes, so we can determine if any additional steps are required.

I confirm - it happens in Beat Saber only. I play PC VR via Link cable. The problem is the following - once in a couple of minutes a controller disappears/freezes for 2-3 seconds, then reappears for a couple of seconds and then disappears/freezes for a couple of seconds and then reappears. Then the same happens with the second controller.

For me personally it started occuring in v54, after I installed second v54 update which was supposed to fix Air Link stuttering issue (but failed to do it). So now we have both Air Link unusable and unplayable Beat Saber. In addition to that I'd like to say that the old problem with Pro controllers losing tracking occasionally with Wi-Fi 5 connected is still there and has never been solved despite what Meta announced. So, since v53 every next update only ruins something else and makes things worse and worse. Meta, excellent job in ruining PCVR and your reputation!

Hi there @Exius86, having a controller not function as intended is not the experience we want for our users. We know that this controller is preventing you from playing your games, and we understand how important it is for you to have a functioning product, and be able to play Beat Saber. So that you can get back to playing in VR, we will do all that we can to assist you!

So that we can rule out some factors, can you please check the following for us:

  • Reboot the headset.
  • Un-pair and re-pair the left controller.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Beat Saber

Let us know how this goes, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Hiya @chaosthe0ry, thanks for letting us know about your wood floor being too shiny. Reflective surfaces can significantly impact tracking for the headset and controllers, and we highly suggest to keep using the mat. We know the controllers not responding well can be inconvenient, but as of currently, the mat will help you be able to play your games in VR with mitigated tracking issues!

If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us!

@MetaQuestSupport What batteries are you talking about? The thread is about Quest Pro controllers. And of course I tried restarting the headset, restarting Oculus Link, un-rairing/pairing controllers and all this common stuff.

In my case it's definitely not a problem with shiny surfaces. It's happening in Beat Saber only and started occuring exactly after second v54 update. Some "improvements" to controllers tracking definitely have been made there.
