Quest Pro controllers jumpy / not tracking properly

Trying to play some Breachers today, as is normal I have to restart my headset 5 or 6 times to get the Quest Pro controllers to track correctly with my Quest 2 headset, sometimes they stay in a static position and this seems to reset the connection to get it to work.

However today is especially worse, they randomly move their tracking positions about 4 inches every few seconds and then move back again, as you can imagine, if you're trying to aim a gun in VR it makes it pretty much impossible.

After about 45 minutes of repairing, restarting and restarting the headset I've given up and come to the forums to complain. It's so frustrating when you want to pick up your headset and play a game for 30 minutes but you have to fiddle around first, this time it was completely unresolvable.

I recorded a video of the controller jumping positions. Take a look at the right controller https://www.file.io/CWTe/download/hD4YUv9rs5pE

Here's an alternate upload where you can watch in the browser but I think the upload expires really quickly https://tmpfiles.org/dl/8658041/80c6362855d8458e8a0db7ef72f438b1.mp4

Here's an alternate upload that expires in 30 days https://easyupload.io/rb2tgn

Meta you need a way to attach videos to your posts.

This jump happens constantly

Here's an example this morning of the controller tracking being utterly useless https://easyupload.io/u908yf

I was also going to upload an example with the pass through behind the controllers but you can't seem to record the passthrough real world (I guess that makes sense) to show how the controllers track in a different position to where they are in the real world

Would rather solve publicly than privately. I also discovered if you move your hands to fast the controllers lose tracking. And if you really wave them super fast they just give up and only move round in a circle from a fixed point.

We definitely want to do everything that we can to help troubleshoot your controllers together! We happened to notice that you had another thread open, where we provided some information and asked you to try some troubleshooting steps. However, we never heard back from you there, so I am not sure if you were able to try these things. We will list the information again below. If you have already tried these things and they did not help, please let us know! We are more than happy to continue looking into this together.

  • Your area is well lit (avoid direct sunlight).
  • Your area is free of small lights (Christmas lights or LED strips).
  • Your area is free of reflective surfaces (mirrors, glass, or polished marble).
  • The tracking cameras are clean.

Additionally, you can try the following:

  • Remove third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection.
    • For example, controller and headset covers, controller attachments, etc.
  • Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds.
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one.
  • Unpair and re-pair the controller to the headset.

Please let us know if this helps. Also, if you did any other troubleshooting outside of these steps, please let us know. We don't want to ask you to repeat anything unnecessarily. We hope to hear from you soon!

Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds
These are Quest Pro controllers, please see the title of the ticket, they do not have removable batteries.

Our mistake in removing that step! Instead, we can complete a factory reset of the controller by performing the following:

  • Right Controller: Hold A and Meta buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
  • Left Controller: Hold X and Menu buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.

From there, continue to complete the suggested steps above, and let us know how things appear!
