This post is about the specific issue with the Quest Pro where it gets stuck in an infinite "tracking lost" loop -- the one that specifically keeps flickering, and makes the image feel like it is being constantly torn and streched -- there is some tracking problems other than this in the last batch of updates, but they don't seems to be as severe/breaking as this one. TBF, since I just got my Pro, I was worried that I got a bad unit and was going to have to RMA. But, after doing some A/B and stress testing, I feel confident that this solves the issue. This really has been a community effort, as it was the QP community on both reddit and discord that helped me to find this solution:
I did some QC stress testing on both my QP and Q2, and while there are some tracking/guardian issues affecting both, the specific infinite tracking lost loop that was causing me to factory reset was directly tied to the fit adjustment being turned on.
Here's my testing notes: once I suspected that this was what it was, I turned the feature off, and did not get lost in that particular loop. This morning, I did have an occasion where 6dof tracking was lost, but I wasn't in that glitch-hell loop, and was able to get tracking back just by shaking the controllers. To confirm that it was the fit adjust, I decided to stress test. I turned the feature on, then loosened my headstrap so it would easily keep falling out of adjustment. It was almost immediate that my headset fell into the tracking lost loop. And once again, none of the usual fixes worked, like restarting the headset, shaking, clearing out my boundary, etc.
I was saved from having to do yet another full factory reset by patiently making my way into the settings and turning off the fit adjust setting in display (note: it's that one specific setting, turning off face and eye tracking won't end the loop, and keeping face and eye tracking on won't put you in the loop). After a shake, all was good again. I'm writing this in Immersed on my QP, with no further issues. Hopefully this saves some people the pain of having to do one more factory reset, or thinking that there's a hardware defect with there QP. I'm back to just loving this thing, and can't wait to see what Meta does with this over the year!

I got the problem a few days ago, but turning off fit adjust doesn't fix it 😞 so I'm stuck in the no tracking loop. Which sucks for $1000 headset
