Quest Remote Desktop on PC auth issues

novarull
Honored Guest

I'm assuming sater an update to the Quest Remote Desktop pc software, or possibly a windows update of some sort, I now cannot get through the authentication steps. The remote desktop app on pc did have an update a week or so ago, but that went through and I was still using it just fine. Yesterday or today this new splash screen appeared. Pretty sure this was how I had originally authenticated as well, but it's been a while.

1. open meta remote desktop, it is asking me to "Login with" and I select Meta Account;

2. This launches a browser to which you are confirming it's you;

3. And now it just ends. With either Edge or Chrome I am able to one time get the popup that is asking to launch back into the desktop app...but it never makes that leap. Then after it gives me that first one I never see it again until I go clear cookies/browsing data from the browser. I've tried changing default browser, cut and paste url, rebooting machine, uninstalling/reinstalling the desktop app multiple times, deleting files, etc. Maybe there's something stuck in a registry setting or other file somewhere??

4. The quest remote desktop app never gets the authorization message and just sits here:

I can then continue the attempt loop. This app isn't new on my machine, I've been using it for quite a while now with the remote display app in the Q2 and Q3.

Feels like it's something on my machine blocking this browser to app handoff somehow, but running into a wall tracking it down.

Many thanks, P

Well I was able to find a 1.x version of remote desktop on my machine...re-installed that version...remote desktop works...then let it perform an update now at v3.13.0.4.117 and all still working ok. I don't recall what the version was in my issue above but will safely hold the install exe for the 1.x version which got be back going!

I am having the same problem as mentioned by @novarull .

I am using Windows 11 Version: 10.0.22631 Build 22631 .

My meta quest remote desktop version is: 6.0.3.112.

Please provide a version of meta quest remote desktop that works with this version of Windows in which it does not encounter this PC authentication issue.

I am referring to @MetaQuestSupport  for my request for a Meta Quest remote desktop version that works with this version of Windows.
