Quest link not working with Quest 3

StonedMagician

I just updated my Nvidia driver to the most recent version (537.58), and now Quest link just isn't working at all. Tried uplugging and replugging the link cable, nope. Tried restarting the headset, nope. Anyone else having this problem?

So i have the same problem and Meta support just wrote me that pc link with steam is not support 100%. Which isn't even my problem. I can't even get the occulus software to detect my Headset anymore. I have updated my BIOS and done everything else that has been written in this Thread. Does anyone have another suggestions?

I'm disappointed that the experience when using Link/Air Link with Quest 3 is currently worse than Quest 2.

Quest 3 Link is unable to run 120hz, and doesn't run at the full headset resolution.

If the software were up to date, AV1 could also be leveraged over USB to give better clarity.

When will the software be updated?

Just wanna chime in to say I also can't connect via Link Cable. Airlink stutters to the point where I can't even exit once I'm in & have to reboot. Virtual Desktop works fine (aside from a network latency issue every 5 minutes). But when I connect the Link cable I hear a connection sound but nothing happens & my PC doesn't appear on the list to connect. And no I'm not wasting time troubleshooting this nonsense. They should've had this working before selling the Quest 3.

Because your headset is being detected, is there any chance you're clicking YES to the message asking about accessing files and folders?  If so, click NO instead.  It was the same with the Quest 2: clicking YES would allow Windows to transfer files, but Link would absolutely not work with it.  Had to restart the headset and click NO to get Link working again.

The only thing that I can add is that my Link Cable is now working from the USB-C port on a DOCKCASE Visual Smart USB C Hub (8-in-1) specifically this one on Amazon:

...and this is plugged into the thunderbolt port on my motherboard: ASUS Prime Z790-P WIFI.  If I was to guess, maybe the BIOS upgrade improved thunderbolt connectivity somehow.  Also, make sure you pay attention when you reboot the Quest 3 because there is a quick message that asks if you want to approve the connected cable. I almost missed it myself.

Never got a message. Nothing happens when I connect other than a sound.

I also found that using a powered hub allowed the link to be recognized.....at first....now it doesn't work, but perhaps I'm also missing the message in the headset. Thanks for the tip.

Let's be honest.  Unless you're woefully behind in your video driver, updating the driver will more than likely do nothing.  It's just a way for support to suggest something, no matter the thought is that it might solve a problem.

And also, start with the basics.  Any kind of updating of the BIOS or using some kind of hub is not something that is likely to fix a thing.

The first thing you'd want to do, in my estimation, is to get a new Link cable.  The cable that I used, coming from the Quest 2, is not sufficient.  Buy a new one and then try.  If that fails and you absolutely know for certain you've got the correct cable, then you can move to other simple solutions.

Once I got a Link cable specifically designed for the Quest 3, my problems disappeared.

There is no such quick message asking if you approve the cable.  I suppose you could update your BIO, but, again, that's unlikely to fix the issue.  More than likely, it's something simple.  Get an official cable, and then proceed.

Get an approved Link cable, one that will work with the Quest 3.  I believe doing this will fix most problems.
