Quest pro controllers keep losing tracking

Hi there.

Bought Quest pro controllers for my Quest 2. Every so often the left or right controller will lose its tracking whilst I'm playing a game. It will then come back to life after 3 seconds or so of waving it about.

I'm on Quest 2 v56

I have heard of similar issues. What can I do?

Thanks

Hey @J40NYR, We see that you are having some issues with your headset, and we don't want this to affect the way you play. We do, however, note that what might be happening is that your playspace might have some things that are interrupting the sensors on the headset. So let's start with that: do you have any reflections, LED or RGB lights, as a focal point for the sensors? Also, we want to ask if you are only experiencing this issue with one game or with all of your applications.

It happens on all games as far as I can see, there is nothing to cause much of a reflection but I'm about 2 metres away from a window. The room is lit with mood lighting, you cannot make out any individual LEDs as the light is cast off the wall.

Thanks

Seems to happen often whilst using remote desktop to stream pcvr games. It's getting to the point where I'm not going to be able to use these controllers. They are used in good light and near no reflective surfaces.

Thought it may be the automatic hand tracking which I have no disabled. Unfortunately this hasn't fixed the issue.

At £300 I really thought the bugs would be fixed after nearly a year of being out in the wild

I had a similar problem, it appeared to be because I was too far from My Wi-Fi hub, ( interference from walls etc between my hub and my occulus quest 2. ]The solution was use the Occulus close to the hub, problem solved, don’t know if this would help in your case, but worth trying.

Thank you @eddieg321 for giving that tip. Hey @J40NYR, were you able to try that extra tip that was suggested ? Or was anything resolved. We would love to hear back from you.

Thanks for the tip. I have given it a go but unfortunately it hasn't fixed the issue.

I actually thought it had fixed itself but unfortunately it started again today. I think it's linked with the ongoing issues with airlink / virtual desktop. When the stuttering starts the controllers also give me issues.

I don't often play standalone although have been enjoying Super rumble and haven't noticed any issues playing that.

I noticed today that the controllers had an update but the issues started back after the update had completed so no hope there unfortunately

Since the issue happens constantly when in PCVR, let's see if we can figure out anything on the headset's and PC's end of things.

Can you please review the following:

  • What are your PC specs.
  • Does this happen when using the the headset by itself?
  • Does this happen when using the Quest Link cable?
  • Can you please check and manually update your GPU to the latest version?
  • Update any PC drivers.
  • Disable any VPN, Firewalls, Antiviruses, Data/Network/Packet managers.
  • Enable the highest performance for your PC in the power settings.
  • Repair the Oculus PC app.

We hope to hear from you soon!
