Quest touch pro trigger mistakenly detecting touch

a324260327
Protege

It detect to "touching" the trigger when my index finger just close to the trigger and not touch it.

When I push the trigger then leave, it don't leave immediately in unless I fully open my hand to keep my index finger really far away from trigger, it makes me hard to switch my gesture from fist/thumb to point/gun.

Is this caused by touch pro's index finger tracking? Can I turn this this feature off?I just want my trigger touch response works like quest2 controller works.

Hey @Papple476! We can see how this would interfere with your VR experience. We absolutely don't want that for you, so let's see if we can get this resolved as quickly as possible! If you haven't already, we recommend that you Factory Reset your controllers by completing the following steps:

  1. Right Controller: Hold A and Oculus buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
    1. Left Controller: Hold X and Menu buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
  2. Release the buttons immediately after the LED begins blinking red/white.
  3. Perform a manual pairing and check if controller LED would flash blue and white to signal pairing state.
  4. Once paired, controllers may take a while to update and stay unresponsive until they finish, and LED would be purple during the update.

Hope this helps! If not, please feel free to reach back out to see if there is anything else we can do to get this resolved. Also, please don't hesitate to ask any further questions or concerns, we'll be happy to assist where needed!

I appreciate you trying to be helpful, but I've had enough of having to deal with the problems that come with these controllers.

I'm going to return the set that I bought recently since after having 2 other sets and trying them on multiple headsets doesn't fix the issue. I had my first set RMAd (which was a whole other nightmare on its own) because one of the controllers wouldn't pair to my headset. After receiving the replacement, I noticed that the controllers had an issue that was also present on the first set with the index finger sensor, so I wanted to get a refund. Unfortunately, I was told that I would have to return the product to best buy to get a refund. After talking to best buy they told me that they can't refund me because they weren't the original device that I sent to Meta's warehouse to get replaced. After talking to a Meta support agent, they told me there was nothing they could do. So I threw away the other controllers out of frustration and bought another set but guess what? it has the same problem as the other 2!

I'm switching to a Valve Index after this because I am sick of running into more and more problems that come with every update and having to deal with customer service like this. It is shameful for a company to sell a broken product to users for $300. It is ridiculous that I can't get a refund if my replacement controllers have the same issues as the first even after trying them on different devices. It's even more infuriating to have bought another set that STILL has the same issue. So now I've just spent $300 and have nothing to show for it.

Yeah. I ended up buckling and trying again and STILL the same issue with a brand new headset and pair of controllers. Still the same issue with the Index finger trigger issue being stuck.

Hey there, @Coffeepaws! We see you're experiencing some movement trouble in VR with your controllers. We know how important having both of your controllers properly functioning is for the benefit of your gameplay, so we'll be glad to assist with this situation! With this in mind, we want to clarify a few things. Please get back to us with the following information:

  • Does this happened when you use your controller using standalone?
  • Have you tried turning on your controllers off and on again?
  • Have you placed the controllers back on the charging dock for 30 seconds?
  • Is this happening to your left or right controller?

Sincerely for the love of god. The fact you're asking BASIC questions to the person who LITERALLY made the forum post ? Is this a joke ? Who do they have even watching this thing.

I have tried the following...

  • Factory reset of the Quest 2 Headset and Quest pro controllers
  • Using the Meta app to Unpair and repair the controllers
  • Tried updating the controllers using the PTC
  • Got a brand new pair sent to me as i sent mine back

I sincerely can't do any more than i have. I have done everything i could to remedy this.

This has been an issue since V44 of your software. TURN DOWN THE FREAKING SENSITIVITY OF THE **bleep** INDEX FINGER TRIGGER. It can't be that hard, it seriously can't.

I don't know how many times i have to ask this, or maybe just allow us to set our own sensitivity level ! I have meet over 5 people with QPro controllers with the SAME issue in the last week alone.

We hear you, @Coffeepaws, and we understand that you've done everything you could to try to resolve this on your end. While we do not have much information currently, we can confirm to you that our engineers are aware that this issue is affecting some of our users and is being looked into. Right now, we believe the best thing you can do to help us is submit a bug report so we can learn as much about this issue as possible.

Well... I tried requesting Support to replace my controllers with a modified ones without magnets. They said they don't offer modified controllers, which was disappointing but made sense.
I decided to RMA my controllers anyways, and both finally arrived.

After each controller updated their firmware, I tested the triggers.
...it did not take long for one of them to get "stuck" randomly.

This is utterly frustrating that $400 controllers behave this way.

I am trying to be as patient as possible with this whole situation. It's incredibly frustrating knowing that a pair of 300$ controllers should work right isn't something that should even be an issue.

This has been an issue since V45 ( sorry i got it wrong saying it was V44 ) of your software. There is an issue with the software causing the controller to be to sensitive to capacitive touch. This was never an issue before then.

I fail to understand that after an entire nearly half a year this issue still persists. Honestly can you guys just give us the ability to turn off that capacitive touch and just enjoy the controller without the index trigger sticking ?
