RTX 4070. Your system's graphics card is incompatible with the Rift system software...

Hello,

I've got a new XPS laptop (2023) with an RTX 4070, i9 CPU, 64GB ram, win 11 and have been chatting with support and still get this message when I open the PC oculus app. Already went through the standard support channel and submitted logs and manually assigned the high-end card to this app and the issue still persists. Has anyone been able to resolve this? Thanks for reading and your consideration.

I am having the exact same issue even after upgrading to v62.

The issue persists after upgrading the headset to v62. Please see the screenshot from HCG.

Hey @virtualHCG! There's a lot of amazing games to enjoy on our Meta Quest Link app that we wouldn't want you missing out on, so we'd love to lend a hand! When you say you have a 4070 dual GPU with Iris XE from your processor, do you mean you have 2 4070 cards with your iGPU, or that you have a single 4070 with an iGPU? To avoid any conflictions with multi-GPU setups, we recommend temporarily removing or disabling one of your 4070s (if applicable), and changing the Meta Quest Link App's default assigned GPU. There's a possibility that the software could be using your Iris XE graphics, which would cause the incompatibility error to occur.

To manually assign a GPU to the Meta Quest Link App:

  1. Close the Oculus Desktop software
  2. Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings
  3. Select Classic App from the drop down and click Browse
  4. Select the OculusClient.exe
(By default, this will be installed C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-client\OculusClient.exe)
  5. Click Options > High Performance > Save
Ensure the "High Performance" option has your dedicated graphics at the top of this menu.

Please let us know if that ended up working out for you, or if the warning is still popping up! We'd be happy to help out more.

We'd love to help you out too, @pj39Jameson! To get a better understanding of your issue, we'd love to know what your system specifications are—along with if the above steps were able to also help you out.

Here is my system info. I have already done the manual assignment of the high end GPU many times.

Thanks for sharing that info, @pj39Jameson! It seems like your specifications definitely meet the Link requirements, so that's good to see! We appreciate you giving the manual GPU assignment a shot as well. If you haven't already, we recommend updating to the latest released Nvidia 4070 Laptop GPU driver, 551.61 - WHQL, released 2 days ago. This may further help compatibility between your GPU and our software. Along with that, we also recommend trying to set your OVRServer_x64.exe priority.

Set Oculus Process Priority

You can manually set the process priority to see if this will automatically assign the process to high performance.

  1. Open Task Manager
  2. Go to the Details tab
  3. Find OVRServer_x64.exe
  4. Right click on it and select Set Priority
  5. Set this priority to High

Please let us know if that worked out for you or not, and we'll see what else we can do!

Just checking in to see if you still needed help or not, @virtualHCG! We'd love to help out more if we could know how our above steps worked out for you!

Thanks for double checking that, @pj39Jameson! It's likely there are other underlying conditions, incompatibilities, or software conflictions that we won't be able to see without viewing your Meta Quest Link log files. We'd love to help out more if you'd reach out to us in a PM!

My laptop has one Nvidia RTX4070 and one iGPU Intel Iris Xe. The first thing I tried was to assign the high performance Nvidia GPU to the OculusClient.exe and the problem persisted. I also updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest so I'm in the same boat as pj39Jameson, I'm still getting the incompatible graphics card warning and unable to launch apps from Oculus Home using Link (official USB Link cable). We have similar laptops, mine is just the 17 inches version.

Thanks for popping back in to update us on that, @virtualHCG! We just saw that you followed up with us via our PM, so we'll get back to you as soon as we can to help out more with that! If you're in the same position as @pj39Jameson, we'll more than likely have to take a look into your log files as well to see what might be going on.

How would you like me to send you my logs?
