Random screen blanking?

So, I bought a Quest 3 from GameStop less than a week ago. I have been playing VRChat, Asgards Wrath 2, and Beat Saber here and there. I will say, best standalone headset I have used ever, but for some reason mine keeps having this issue where the screen will just randomly go black for like half of a second. I don't know what it is or why it does it, but I can't even finish a Beat Saber map without the Black Screen popping up randomly and causing my game to Pause, which is very frustrating. I have been playing it Semi-nonstop for the past week (less than 5 days) but it keeps happening. I never had this issue with my Quest 2, and I am wondering: how can I fix it?

 

I will say, when I first bought the headset, I couldn't get through the initial setup without having to factory reset my headset the first time because the SystemUX kept crashing up on attempting the Guardian boundary setup.

 

If anyone can help that would be severely appreciated! Stay safe everyone!

Hey @WolfLink1015! We hope you're having a great day today! Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We know it's no fun to not be able to use our devices to their full capacity so we would love to help getting this issue resolved for you. Luckily, we have a few troubleshooting steps we can try and resolve this random black screen issue.

  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
  • Hard Reboot the headset
  • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound 
    1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

We've seen these steps help people out in the past with the same issue you're having.
