Hi all. I'll keep the storytelling out of this, because I am where I am. But I'm hoping someone has insight into why my Quest only charges in certain situations.
It WILL charge:
* In a third-party dock where you insert a metal contact into the USB-C port on the headset and place it into the dock to charge by contact
* Using any USB-A to -C charger and cable combo. I've tried this using power plugs from Anker (22W output, although I understand USB-A has a 15W limit), the generic 5W USB-A plug on a power strip, and a USB hub that I think is 5W. I've used new and old cables and they all work.
It will NOT charge:
* Using ANY USB-C to USB-C cable or plug. This is true even if the cable is the OEM cable plugged into the OEM plug. I've tried a variety of new and old cables and two third-party plugs from Anker as well as a battery pack. I've verified that the cables are pulling power by plugging in other devices and they charge even when the Quest doesn't.
I'm not a computer newbie, although electricity is not my strong suit. But with all the combinations I've tried I don't understand why a C to C connection fails. I have no idea how to even diagnose the problem and I'm two months out of warranty. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Have you used the headset while it was charging?

Yes.

Internal connection is probably loose.
Did you have a holder/support for the cable?

It works fine with an A to C cable from any charger, including a C charger with an A converter. It also works on a C cable plugged into an A plug with a C converter. It does not work with a C cable plugged into a C charger. Given that the C cable working or not working depends on where it's plugged into, it doesn't seem to be a connection issue.
