Can someone help me with a referral issue? My friend recommended the Oculus to me and provided me with a referral code before Christmas that should of gotten us each $60. Win-Win!
I bought the unit for my son and I contacted support to make sure we got the referral since I bought it and he activated it. I didn’t know if that would mess things up. Upon contacting them they wanted a screenshot of the FB Messenger link I got sent. I didn’t have one bc he sent it to me in a text message. They told me it had to be in messenger (but it doesn’t state that anywhere in the app or website referral page, I pointed this out but they have yet to comment on that part). They eventually gave us $30 but refuse to give us $60 saying we didn’t follow the rules. I’ve asked to be escalated to a supervisor but the support agent refuses to do this. Can someone from Oculus give me a hand here? If it was stated that it had ti be messenger, and we didn’t follow that, I’d be fine. But we didn’t do anything wrong from what I’ve seen. They need to add a disclaimer about Messenger if that is the only way.
Hi there, BrownsburgJason. We'd be happy to clear up any confusion regarding the referral program. The program does indeed work if you were sent a referral link through text, but only in the US. The real hiccup here would be the fact that the referral was claimed with your Facebook account instead of your son's.
When you go to the referral link and sign in with Facebook, that links the store credits to that particular account. Then, once the new device is activated and the Oculus account is linked with the same Facebook account as the referral acceptance, that account will be granted the Oculus store credits.

Thanks for the info. What is the chance you can help me get the $60? My son was pretty excited about getting that for some games. I do understand the confusion above, it would be nice if you could put something on the app/website that says for FB Messenger to be used, for the above reasons. Until I ran into this, I would of texted anyone wanting a referral.
