Replacement CV1 Shows Leading Ghost Images On Head Movement - just me or does everyone see this?

My pre-order CV1 was delivered in May and I used it regularly without problems until the end of August when it started to malfunction (HDMI disconnects). Ultimately customer service had me send it back for an RMA. I just got the replacement and noticed these leading ghosts on high contrast images.

An easy way to repro is to open the "Universal Menu" with the Oculus button on the remote and use that screen - quick but steady head movement on my headset shows ghosting as seen in the screenshot. Do you see them too?

There was a firmware update that I applied to the new unit and its running version 1.8.0.277202 (1.8.0.285271) of the Oculus software which is newer than I had on the old one.

I'm wondering if this is something new that all of them are doing, or if its a display issue with my new headset.

The screenshot image I posted was created with Photoshop to demonstrate what I'm seeing - it is not a live screen capture.

I have this to and it was definatly not happening before, so between this and having to disable ASW for steam games as to stop all the stuttering that appeared around last October out of what was up until then a flawless VR experience, it does start to grate on you somewhat.

I have the same "problem" but I think is normal because the rift display work in that way. Even the OLED display of my PlayStation Vita have the same gosthing problem.

same here!
a short summary of rifts i owned:
1st: I bought on official site during black Friday at 399€ serial number like this: WMHD315K400Z(**) date of product around 2017's summer. Looks almost perfect, during black scenes too. Returned to Oculus bacause IPD setting problem (stuck at 72mm)
2nd: serial like this
WMHD303G100J(**) date of product october 2016. A lot of ghosting in dark games.
(returned to Oculus)
3rd: serial like this  WMHD303G1001(**) date of product october 2016. Same of 2nd
(they don't want to replace in warranty a 3rd time)

I want to know why if I have a problem with a new product they replace with very old devices.

I also notice sometimes. Maybe sometimes I don't notice or maybe sometimes it's not there, dunno.

I don't have an issue with it anymore since using Dash. Maybe I'll switch back to the old style just to see if it's there. I know about smudging but this is really a distinct sharp copy of that black circle. No smudging.

I have exactly the same issue. I found out how to reduce it to minimum. You have to turn off Spud using registry(regedit.exe).
  1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software
  2. Right click on the Software folder > New > Key and name the new folder "Oculus"(in my case it already exists)
  3. Right click on the Oculus folder > New > DWORD 32bit Value and name it UseSpud
  4. Set the value to 0
  5. Restart OVRService using Task Manager
However, I've got another problem after turning off Spud - the red tint. But it appears only after the second run OculusClient while OVRService is running. So I've created shortcuts(bat files) for start/stop OVRService. I have to restart it every time I close Oculus Client.
