(Resolved) Known Issue - V62/63 USB-C Debris/Water Warning

Star.Knight
Protege

v62 has a big problem with USB port sensor (found the very same issue on my Q3 and the one of my wife)... when used with an extension cable (even if it is a quality cable) from time to time star showing the debris-water warning message. Of course there is no debris or water, just a nasty software false alarm.

I just had this error yank me out of a race in iRacing. Please fix! I reported in the headset bug reporting system itself but I will add my details here too. Please fix this, my racing season starts very soon. Thank you

Understandable. I wish you luck, I was so happy with the 120Hz. I need a reliable system, if they don’t fix this quickly I will get a refund from Amazon and find another brand headset. You can’t push updates out like this. What’s the point of the PTC if they don’t iron out these things ?

Debris warning issue has been report almost 3 WEEKS ago by "opensource" in the v62 PCT thread. At that time v62 was not live yet. They simply ignored that post. Just a few days later I did the same... and many other user did the same. It was clear that v62 has an huge issue with USB sensors that needed to be sorted out quickly.

So far... no news from Zuckerberg & C.

Same problem since update v62. Watching movie every 10 minutes debris warning pop Up. The headset is useless at the moment. Got the quest 3 in november always used usb-c power. Never befor shown this warning.

Yeah I can barely use the quest 3 plugged in without the warning popping up while im in the middle of watching or playing something. And I used it plugged in the entire time before v62. It was reported 3 weeks ago? Wonderful…

I have been using my new MetaQuest3 for days with the same cable always connected while in use. I was on 60 and today updated to 62 and I got the debris / water error and hear 3 chrips and the display goes to blank passthrough. I think it may be related to one of the controllers not updating properly and the error always comes up now making my new device practically unusable once I updated to v62.

I'm also having the same issue. No moisture or whatever in the port, and only started once I updated to V62. Never had the issue prior.

Just had this message pop up a few minutes ago.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is randomly getting this pop-up.

Hopefully it's just a software issue.

tell me about it V62 no good till they fix it i add a email off meta this is what it said

It appears that you are having an issue with your device showing Liquid or Debris Headset Warning Message. I completely know  where your point of view is getting at, as you really want to use and access most features and content of your device. Allow me to assist you with this.

“Liquid or debris has been detected in the charging port. Please unplug all cables from the headset and turn it off. Wait until liquid dries or debris is gone before restarting your headset. If this message returns, repeat the process.”

For me to get to know the issue much better, would you mind performing the steps below? Once you've done so, let me know what the result will be so that I can provide you with further options on this matter.

Here's how to properly clean your headset:

Required Equipment:

  1. A disposable Soft Bristle Toothbrush.
  2. The toothbrush must be New and Dry to avoid recontamination of the USB port.
  3. Paper towel, Napkin or a dry cleaning cloth

Warning:

  1. Do not use a prepasted toothbrush!
  2. Do not use any liquid or solvent such as isopropyl, bleach..
  3. Wear gloves, safety glasses or a face shield.
  4. Discard the toothbrush after cleaning

Instructions:

  1. Power off the device. Remove all accessories.
  2. In a circular motion, brush and clean inside the USB-C port using the soft bristle toothbrush.
  3. Make sure the toothbrush bristles are getting deep inside the connector and moving around the inner tongue.
  4. Do not overpress down on the toothbrush.
  5. In a scooping motion, use the toothbrush to help the liquid come out of the USB-C port.
  6. Use a paper towel or a dry cloth to absorb and clean the liquid and debris around the port.
  7. Let the device dry at room temperature in a well ventilated area for at least 1 hour (varies).
  8. Do not connect a USB cable to the device until the port is completely dry.
  9. Do not attempt to charge and do not use the device until the USB-C port is completely dry.

Alternatively, use a Compressed Air can to blow inside the USB-C port with 3 bursts. (Safety glasses and PPE must be worn per manufacturing recommendation
