(Resolved) Known Issue - V62/63 USB-C Debris/Water Warning

v62 has a big problem with USB port sensor (found the very same issue on my Q3 and the one of my wife)... when used with an extension cable (even if it is a quality cable) from time to time star showing the debris-water warning message. Of course there is no debris or water, just a nasty software false alarm.

I seem to have gotten rid of the issue. So far so good. I opted into the PTC last night last thing and I just checked and I'm now on v63 today and link is charging the headset and no 'liquid/debris' error at all.

Quest3?

Tried PCVR? What cable? How long did you test?

Yes, Q3. I'm just using the official link cable that I've been using for the last 2.5 years. PCVR is fine. I run through VD or Steam Link so my link cable is always plugged into the wall socket rather than the PC.
It's been working fine for about 6 hours now. I've plugged it in and out many times over those 6 hours to make sure it's still working and no issues so far.

Have they fixed this yet? My bud is having this issue

The official link cable doesn't charge the Q3 during use, nor does it keep charge. It discharges, fast. This bug occurs with cables that can keep or increase charge on the headset

Mine does. I use my headset for work. Sometimes I'm in VR for 10-12 hours a day. My Q3 charges through the link cable, plugged into the wall, as I stream through VD. I've been doing this since October. My cable is 2.5 years old so maybe the issue you mention is with newer cables? Either way, I don't have the issue you mentioned.

I have problem using my usb 3.0, warning from time to time  , same cable usb2.0 no problem !

ok this is not the same. wireless link (VD / steam link / airlink) + USBC to the wall charger is not the same as data link through USBC (Quest link, old Oculus Link) + power through USBC at the same time. for that, which is the majority of cases for PCVR (cabled is always better than wireless) the error is still there

Yep, that's what I wrote in my first post above too, streaming with link plugged into wall. I stopped using the awful link interface months ago. Streaming VD is a whole different level of VR experience for me. I would never go back to relying on link.
Anyway, I thought I'd let others know that I've been using the headset all day now with no issues. Charging is fine and the error is cleared. Opting into PTC and running v63 has completely fixed it for me.

Oculus Link is superior. Removing microstutters in VD requires lowering the bitrate down to 100mbps with the best hardware you can buy and the wifi 6E router close to your face. In VD the headset discharges while plugged in in PCVR games, not in Oculus Link. I don't know what you mean by spending 10 to 12 hours in VD everyday, I'm talking about PCVR games, like simulators.
At every level, the tradeoffs forced by the instabilities and latencies of wireless make it a worse option. The only attraction was AV1 but H264 at 380 mbps and above looks better and works better.
So, now that we have established that Oculus Link is not "awful" we can see that fixing it is important for anyone who uses PCVR.
