[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue?  It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.

Mine is the same, shows up a second then gone. How are you all contacting support? Been trying for two days but I only get "This page isn't available at the moment" on their support page.

I just went though the live chat option because of the limited options to claim a ticket. After going through general troubleshooting the consultant said I would expect an email, and just got that asking if I want a replacement or refund

Oh I've not even seen a live chat option...

I have been a big fan of VR for many years...... Q1 on launch, Q2 on launch, now Q3 on launch.

Anyways, that aside... the Q3 and the Elite head strap have issues.....  we all know that.

My new issue to the list is it wont charge past 68-69%.

i am lucky that when connecting the Elite strap to my Q3, i actually see a notification advising extended battery life, and if i hover over the battery icon, i see the remaining percentages.

i have tried resetting via the little white button on the back, i have tried the supplied q3 charger, my phone charger, a battery pack.......anything that produces a charge has been tested......... Elite battery strap remains at 68-69%.

Any ideas.... or do i just request a replacement?

Live is a bit of a stretch! I’ve seen more life in a morgue than Meta customer service. When you message them via WhatsApp you have to wait days for a reply! In my case I wasted three days and then they sent me a message in the night when I was sleeping so naturally didn’t reply! Then I woke up and saw a message saying as you haven’t replied I will close the support request! I was asleep for 7 hours ffs! Not 7 days… Then I had to start the whole process again! It’s painful and left me with no confidence in Meta whatsoever. They eventually sent me a new Elite Strap but failed to put my full address on the shipping details only my name, town and postcode. I received a call from the courier saying we’ve been unable to deliver your parcel as we don’t have your address as the sender failed to provide it! It’s like amateur hour every hour with these guys. It’s going to be the last Meta product I ever buy I know that.

Its there. It looks very long winded, but there may be a quicker way.

Just follow these steps...

Go to Meta Store.

Support (top right of screen and actually click it, dont just hover your mouse over it) - Meta Quest - Fix a Problem - Contact Support - Meta Quest 3 - Trouble Shoot - Headset - Battery - Poor Battery Life - Chat with Customer Support.

It obviously looks like that this is for the HMD battery itself, but i just mentioned the battery head strap and they sorted it out. Mine is out for delivery today.

Then fill in the empty (2) boxes and press 'Start Chat with Agent'.

For what it’s worth, their Twitter support is excellent. Very fast response and gets you sorted with returns very quickly.

Hi guys,

Same here in Germany. Bought it at Meta directly

Mfg Date is 2023/08 and SN 2V5SQ0BF7….

You need to plug the strap into the headset and not wear the headset while charging to go beyond 69%. The strap uses the sensor in the headset to detect that it's NOT being worn.

Yeah and this is probably a safety mechanism, I am sure,

Safety is a real thing when having batteries strapped to your face and head, given Lithium Ion if it malfunctions can ignite and/or explode.  One reason I never would recommend a third party battery from a random company based in China, despite many people opting to go this route.  If something goes horribly wrong, good luck on the liability front.
