[Resolved] - Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery only connects for a few seconds

Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue?  It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.

Got fast response from support via mail.
They are aware of this issue and feedback from tech department is, its a SOFTWARE bug.
So there will be an update, but he could not say when 😒

IMO was pretty clear it was a software/firmware bug all along, seems a flakey USB detection routine, or the headset is "ejecting" the elite strap when it runs out of battery hence preventing a reconnect without plug/replug.

However, there probably *are* a very small percentage of genuinely defective batteries out there, which need to be replaced, so hopefully Meta will release the update soon to rectify this so people know where they stand.

It says this is the solution, aside from contacting support were the any other steps we could utilize at home?

The only solution is to return it and buy a 3rd party one

I got through to chat this way, thanks.

I spoke with chat support, they had no idea about the issue, usual responses of charge it longer, are LED's showing etc. Ended with him saying we need to move to email instead so he can "call upon our specialized team to assist further".

They said that to me, and just asked for more details then said a new one was on its way.

It arrived today and appears to be working fine.

CPU: Intel i9-10990k.
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX3080,
RAM: 32GB DDR5,
Viewed on: Oculus Quest 2 or 28" BenQ monitor (x2),
Hard Drive: 2TB Samsung SSD (games), 512GB Samsung SSD (OS), 512GB SSD (3d),
OS: Win 11 64 bit

I got this useless email:

  1. Try to Unplug and replug the Elite Strap from headset. Make sure the headset is powered ON.
  2. Press the button once on the Elite Strap and check LED color.
    • Green: Fully Charged
    • Orange: Charging
    • Blinking Orange: Low Charge
    • Blinking Alternating Colors: Error
    • No LED: This means a very low battery level
      • Charge the Elite Strap for at least an hour
  3. If Elite Strap is not powering the headset
    1. Try unplugging and replugging from headset
    2. Try unplugging and replugging from AC adapter

This was an interesting video on the bobo, the meta quest strap gets mentioned also. I seems the quest 3 is a power hungry beast.
