Is anyone working on the Quest 3 elite battery issue? It charges but won’t connect to the headset for more than a few seconds, meaning you cannot charge through the back port.
Currently only the meta store is selling this product as a new batch has now been manufactured and is just being rolled out to people who purchase via the meta store or who are going through meta support to get a warranty replacement.
To add to the above I have just recieved my new elite strap with battery and the box is showing a manufacture date of 12/2023 so I'm guessing I have one of the new batch.
I'm based in the UK and I contacted Meta support about a week ago and pointed them to the issues that had been well publicised and they offered to send me out a new strap without the need to return my defective one.
It seems that these are only just being rolled out so it will be interesting to see if the issue is resolved permanently for most people in the coming weeks.
It would be interesting to know the root cause of this problem. If it is a software error in the ic chip, is the chip broken as a result, or could the chip be reset if the battery cables are disconnected from the circuit board for a while? This would mean opening the Elite Strap which cant be done without breaking clips.
They still made me return mine. I can't deal with the stock strap, so I bought a cheap knockoff "elite" strap from Amazon for $30 to use while waiting for the replacement. It's actually very comfortable! It might fall apart, but hopefully I only need it for a couple of weeks.
nothing obvious. batteries were full, disconnecting and reconnecting the charge IC board briefly brought the straps led back briefly and flashed orange but quickly returned to doing nothing. probably bad firmware or faulty charge controller boards are my best guess.
