Resolved - Quest Airlink lags and stutters after V54 update.

Been using Quest pro with airlink for 4 months now without any issues whatsoever.

After the headset was updated to V54 I'm having headset lag/connection issues on airlink.

Screen is stuttery at times when moving in my playspace or moving my head, the image gets laggy, choppy and black frames appear on the side of the screen oposite to where I'm moving my head.

Image quality has degraded significantly with lots of "artifacts".

This makes casual games like VR chat hard to play due to constant lag and stutter, games like Beat Saber are impossible to play.

I havent changed a single thing in my playspace nor my setup, router config is the same as when it was working, PC is the same, no update has been applied to any of this.

Any advice would be much appreciated as Im lost on what to do.

Just in case

Specs

CPU I9 12900k

32GB Ram

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080TI

Router: TP-link AX1500 Wifi 6 dedicated just to the headset.

Inside the Meta phone app, go to >> headset settings >> advanced settings >> Public Test Channel (toggle it on). Then go into your headset >> settings >> system >> software update. You might need to restart your headset for the update to appear. If a Meta employee see's this..."You're welcome for doing your job".

i wiped everything and it is still not working cant even downgrade the current update! how long does it take meta to relies this update is messed!!

Thank you again....this worked and things appear to be working good.  The update installed and we have restarted the device several times and the games still play fine.

I really appreciate all the information you have provided BubblzZz.....again, anyone wonder why Meta / FB are declining, here ya go.

Hello All,

Same issue here as well and wanted to chime in. I submitted a bug report earlier today.

System:  Alienware R11, I71th Gen; 32gbRam;Nvidia RTX 2060 super. Win10.

I almost exclusively use the quest2 with MSFS 2020.  I have been enjoying Airlink(over the wired linked cable!) with Flight Sim. Since V54, I have experienced significant lag.  After some moments, it tries to “equalize” but clearly something has changed and sent it in the wrong direction.

Anyway, I hope this issue is addressed and fixed quickly…

Cheers,

RB

With Virtual Desktop and SteamVR I solved the problem permanently.

It's amazing how third-party software works so much better than the original one.

Meta should seriously review the airlink to make it more stable, it can't go on like this.

Hi,

Now I wanted to play via Air Link this weekend and had to realize that as soon as I move my head the picture stutters so much that it is impossible to play.
Also, as soon as the stuttering starts, I get a huge "X" flashing pattern in the middle of the Screen/Lenses.

-I completely reinstalled the Oculus software
- updated the graphics card driver
-Guardian enabled/disabled
-Restarted the PC and the quest several times
-connected the Quest 2 via the original link cable.
-reconnected the quest via bluetooth.
-ASW enabled/disabled
-installed the latest Ocullus beta version
-Tried via Steam VR

But nothing helped, as soon as I start PCVR it runs as usual for the first few seconds, but as soon as I move my head this flashing "X" pattern appears and it stutters so much with every movement that it is impossible to play.

The last time I played via Air Link was three days ago, everything went as usual.

As far as I can remember, the only thing that has changed on my PC since then is the new Windows communications update, but I can't exactly tell if it was installed before or after the problems started.

I would be happy if there is a solution for this soon.

BubblzZz this fixed it for me. Updated to PTC v55 and airlink works now.

Thanks!

Arjuna

Version 54 has broken airlink and also Virtual Desktop. I have the same issue and have spent two days doing a lot of fiddling without success. Guy Godin (Virtual Desktop creator) recommends resetting to factory settings. I've done this and it worked for a while then the issue came back. PCVR  / airlink / virtual desktop unplayable till this is resolved.

Reddit link: V54 airlink stutter

update: second factory reset did the trick. Shame we are all tearing our hair out trying different things (I even updated to win11 fgs) while the problem goes unacknowledged.

I use VD and SteamVR as well, and with V54 I'm still getting those latency spikes.

Disabling ASW solved the flashing X/cross for me. I haven't notice stuttering or problems with Virtual Desktop as of yet.

I am not using SteamVR.

Air Link/Link has been virtually useless on my setup since v48/49 due to distortion, resolution and bitrate problems.
