Resolved - Quest Airlink lags and stutters after V54 update.

Been using Quest pro with airlink for 4 months now without any issues whatsoever.

After the headset was updated to V54 I'm having headset lag/connection issues on airlink.

Screen is stuttery at times when moving in my playspace or moving my head, the image gets laggy, choppy and black frames appear on the side of the screen oposite to where I'm moving my head.

Image quality has degraded significantly with lots of "artifacts".

This makes casual games like VR chat hard to play due to constant lag and stutter, games like Beat Saber are impossible to play.

I havent changed a single thing in my playspace nor my setup, router config is the same as when it was working, PC is the same, no update has been applied to any of this.

Any advice would be much appreciated as Im lost on what to do.

Just in case

I confirm, in my case Air Link lags are gone in v55, with encoding and bitrate set to default settings. I'm using Air Bridge (Wi-Fi 6) and Quest Pro. I was able to play Beat Saber on Expert in the room next to the room with the PC and Air Bridge - no lags detected.

Could you please share which versions you have exactly on the headset and for the Oculus App on Windows?

Have you tested it after rebooting the headset and playing for multiple sessions?

It's been several days after update - after several headset restarts everything is working fine so far. Both Oculus Rift and Steam VR apps look good.

Oculus App Version 55.0.0.91.272 (55.0.0.91.272)

System Version 50048630052600330
Version 55.0.0.149.713.495424200
Runtime Version 55.0.0.149.713.495424008
OS Version SQ3A.220605.009.A1

It seems, at least for me, this software version fixes lags so far.

I'm using Oculus Air Bridge and Quest Pro.

Here are my debug settings:

Quest 2 50577570052500150 on V55.0.0.149.713.495424200

Mobile app version is 224.0.0.2.76

Windows app 55.0.0.91.272 (55.0.0.91.272)

Yes, tried restarting a few times. yes multiple sessions.

Thanks for sharing all that information. I have the same versions and tried the same debug settings, but I still got stutters on Meta Link.

I'm very happy to see that with V56 PTC running on both the Quest 2 and the Oculus App on Windows PCVR is playable on Quest Link as well as Air Link! There are still some stutters at times, but much less frequent, as before it was like 90% stutters, now it's maybe down to about 10-25% of the time.

Before V54 I was always super happy with how smooth the Air Link experience was. I think it's still not as good as it was back then, but I'll take it 🙂

At first I had installed V56 PTC only on the Oculus App, but that didn't seem to improve anything. Then I also installed V56 PTC on the Quest 2 and with both running on that, it was working like I described above. Then I reverted the Oculus App on Windows back to V55 and it was stuttering again. So my best experience is with both on V56.

Today I switched to v56, it's still broken, at this point I think i'll say goodbye to airlink and try virtual desktop, if it turns out that virtual desktop also doesn't work because of the quest recent updates I will just sell the headset and go to the competitor I guess.

Are you running v56 on both the headset and the Oculus app on Windows?

Can you share your complete version numbers please?

Did you make any customizations like using Oculus Debug Tool? It might help setting everything to the defaults.

Did you already contact Meta customer support about it? They're very attentive in my experience.

That's exactly what I did, i sold my quest 2 for the pico 4 and it's worth it

Was completely broken with V54. Fixed when I moved to v55 PTC. Now stuttering again. On v56 desktop and headset.
