[Resolved] - Quest Link cable connection to PCVR doesn't work after v57 update

I am sick of this happening every time the devs roll out a new update.

Oculus app updated this evening, Quest Pro headset will no longer be detected via cable connection, only wireless.

Doesn't matter if I'm opted into PTR, or opt out and uninstall the new drivers that came along with this.

If anyone manages to get themselves out of this situation lemme know how ya did it!

still not working i didt get any update

Not sure....but I'm still on PTC.

You'll  get the updates faster or maybe first then.

You will get it too, just wait a little longer.🙂

Confirmed: Link works again.

What I had to do: On PC, I had to go to settings --> beta and opt out (because I had opted in). The PC software then updated and restarted, and I was good to go.

(it was NOT working while I had beta turned on, so maybe meta did not update their beta engine to reflect these new changes? unsure.)

Also: I never registered as a dev.

Meta: THANKS FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE.

For me it works with PTC still enabled so..... the update comes through beta chanel too.

Good Catch Arthur -> V 57.0.0.254.153 now working for me also

Thanks

Hi,

I have the quest 2 and the official usb c cable. I can’t get past the connect headset screen. It just has a spinning circle.

it did used to work with an old unofficial cable.  We also brought an unofficial cable that had the USB A end. This didn’t work so we took it back and went for the official one which also doesn’t work.

we are using windows 11.

any help is greatly appreciated

Have a look at version of your pc app.

Version 57.0.0.238.153 has a bug that broke cable link.

Meta fixed that and is rolling out an update (57.0.0.254.153)....might take some time until you get.

Air link should work, so you can still playing pc games while waiting for the update.

Link works again for sure. I played Demeo for an hour last night and it was smooth like butter. No issue at all.

I have tried repeatedly to connect my Oculus quest 2 to my recently purchased GS76 laptop.

Windows 10 is installed on the laptop.

It worked perfectly on my MSI GT72 Dominator before the motherboard died due to a bad firmware update that I accidentally installed with a bunch of drivers from Microsoft.

GS76 has Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics, and is advertised as VR ready.  Nvidia driver version 31.0.15.3734

During setup of the headset in the oculus app on the PC, it gets as far as plugging in the cable, but it will not find the headset when I do so.

I disabled the discrete intel graphics as a first attempt to find the issue, and when it failed, I tried installing newer drivers from Nvidia, along with other upgraded hardware drivers.  No change.

The headset works fine as a stand alone, and when I connect it to the PC, I can hear the sounds that tells me that windows recognizes it, and it even shows the oculus as an option in the audio output and that does work fine.

I also installed the oculus drivers that are found in the oculus folder under program files, and that made no difference.

One thing that I have noticed, is that previously, on sites with VR video players embedded in the page with my old system, you could see that the video was in VR when you dragged it around, but on this laptop, I have noticed that only on a few occasions that it worked that way.  The videos appear to be 2D when you drag them around.

I strongly suspect that it is a driver issue, but past experience has told me that Oculus systems sometimes use older drivers, and will not work correctly with newer drivers.

But then, it could be a hardware setting that needs to be changed.

I hope the details I have given, will give someone an idea of where I can start to fix this issue.
