I bought an oculus quest headset for my son for a Xmas gift for 2023. When it arrived, we experienced significant issues with setting up a child account.
After numerous attempts to resolve my issues. I requested to return and get a refund for the headset. It was my child's xmas gift - so the least I could do was to get him a refund.
Meta refused to offer a refund but after mentioning that under Australian Consumer law that I was entitled to a refund - they sent me reply paid postage so that I could return it for a refund.
I packed up the headset carefully, completed all the paperwork and returned it. In February of 2024, I received a message from meta confirming that my refund would be processed in a week.
From there on, nothing happened. No refund was ever paid. I have contacted meta dozens of times over the past 11 months. All I kept getting was the standard were looking into your request AI messages.
I managed to make contact through messenger numerous times but kept getting g the run around or cut off. No one wants to assist.
Eventually a representative contacted me and asked for proof from my bank to show that the refund wasn't received which I provided. This was after 9 months.
After providing the information I am yet to hear back after 2 months. I have continued to reach out but my messages are ignored.
I normally would have given up but it's my son's money and I need to show him that he shouldn't let large companies take advantage of him. So I won't give up.
I have a huge collection of messages which show contempt, incompetence and a lack of interest in refunding my money which will be great for my legal complaint which I will be submitting shortly.
I even has a member of metas team from one of their finance outsourcing centres view my LinkedIn profile which was really creepy.
When I raised it in a message the profile of the person that viewed my profile disappeared.
It's been a very frustrating and bad customer service experience and I have been very patient and have done everything I can to resolve the matter with meta. I just want my matter resolved.

Thank you for responding. I have sent a direct message as instructed in the hope that I will finally get some assistance.
I will update this thread so that readers can be kept up to date on the service/help I receive.
