Rift CV1 black screen

Thug

had my Rift since the first month and only use it every other week for an hour or so, and never had any issues until a few days ago.
I updated my nvidia drivers to the newest and when I went to use my Rift my screens were black. It did work fine the day before updating the drivers but not sure if the drivers are just coincidental or not.
Anyway, I uninstalled the drivers in safe mode using a driver sweeper and went back to the previous ones, but this didn’t help.
I tried uninstalling the Oculus drivers and now getting an error stating that:

Restart computer
Sorry we encounter an error during installation.
Please restart your computer and try running Oculus
setup again. If you still experience issues, contact
Oculus support.

I have obviously tried tried to restart my pc a few times.

I have tried various USB both 2 and 3 which have made no difference.
The light shows orange and white
The controllers track perfectly.

I will try that, but shouldn't really have to.
I don't really fancy doing a re-format, but might be my only option.
