Rift Headset-strap springs question

Anonymous

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if some of you could clarify for me whether the Rift comes with springy headband straps on both the left and right sides (by the headset itself), or just one side only?

I have recently upgraded from the DK2 to the retail Rift. My brand-new retail rift unit has a springy right strap with a non-springy left strap.

Thanks!

Could it be the cable is preventing the left side from springing? I have bend the cable in a bit to give it some play because the loop that holds the cable near the back seems to create friction preventing the strap spring from extending.

Both sides should be sprung. I'd suggest opening a support ticket, given all the problems with these adjustable bands and the audio connectors.

Turns out the left cable was stopping the left strap from extending.

I had somehow managed to (accidentally) loosen the internal cable and now the headband straps extend all the way, with the springs coming into action for both sides properly.
This is a bit worrying given the posts about cables severing on the left side...

Thanks beyondinfinity, Richooal and lensmandave!
