I am reaching out regarding a critical issue with my Rift S headset that occurred immediately after a recent Meta Quest Link update. Despite being correctly recognized via both USB 3.0 and DisplayPort, the headset fails to function when worn. The usual activation sound does not play, the white dot near the lenses disappears, and the display remains completely black.
I have meticulously gone through every troubleshooting step available on Reddit and the official Meta forums, yet none have resolved the issue. Given the timing of this failure immediately following the update, I am concerned that this may not be an isolated case.
I have spent the past three days searching for a solution but have found none. Prior to this update, my headset was functioning perfectly. I require an immediate resolution or further guidance on how to restore proper functionality.
Please advise on the next steps or confirm if Meta intends to continue supporting Rift S devices. I appreciate a prompt response and actionable solution.
Best regards,

Hmmm this sounds familiar!
I am having the exact same issue after the same update.
Same attempts to resolve and same results...
Would love a solution for this issue.

I am genuinely concerned that Meta may have released an update designed to intentionally disable older hardware like the Rift S. It’s extremely frustrating that none of the available fixes I’ve found online seem to work. I’ve been fully dedicated to resolving this issue over the past few days, tirelessly researching every possible site, video, and forum, but nothing has helped.

@Carbaire have you tried the ALVR software instead of meta's crapware.

Yes, not working for my use case. I play iRacing and use no controllers, only the sim. (Only my left Oculus controller works and therefore, Oculus fantastic software would not let me pair my right side hand controller only) No words, I tried ALVR software and still not working.

Beyond my individual case, I am increasingly convinced that future updates will render the Rift S completely unusable with NO possible fix. Meta support has provided NO real assistance, regardless of the approach taken, offering only generic bot responses instead of meaningful solutions.
I strongly recommend two actions:
Sell your Rift S and switch to a competitor that values long-term device support.
This issue is not isolated—it is affecting all Rift S users at some point in their software updates.
There is no doubt that Meta is deliberately phasing out Rift S and other devices through planned obsolescence, which is illegal. One user even took legal action against Meta and won in court because Meta failed to provide support and refused to appear in legal proceedings.
I am truly speechless at this level of consumer neglect. This kind of corporate behavior is something I expected from Apple, but not Meta. No device should become unusable after an update.

META: YOU ARE A JOKE. As a multi-billion-dollar company, has consistently failed to demonstrate genuine regard for its consumers. Despite its financial success, its lack of meaningful support and disregard for user experience highlight a troubling neglect of customer satisfaction and responsibility.
