Purchased a Rift S in 2019. Used it with Email # 1 via the Oculus app on my PC. Put it away for some years.
Purchased a Quest 3 in 2024. Registered it via Meta to Email # 2 (as I forgot I had used Email # 1 previously). Now I'm ready to sell the Rift S in 2024, but I want to make sure it's not registered to me so that it can be registered by a buyer.
STEP ONE: Log back in with old Email # 1 credentials, Oculus is no longer viable, so the account gets converted to Meta. Fine. Open the Oculus app on my PC. Rift S is detected in Devices menu, but 'remove device' is grayed out - this suggests the Rift S is not registered to Email # 1.
STEP TWO: Log in to Meta with current Email # 2. Plug Rift S back into PC. Go through headset setup. Rift S is shown in Devices menu, but 'remove device' is grayed out - this suggests the Rift S is not registered to Email # 2.
STEP THREE: Log back in to Email # 1. Devices menu is empty, no Rift S is shown. Delete account in an attempt to force the Rift S to register elsewhere, but the deletion is on hold for 30 days.
STEP FOUR: Log back in to Email # 2, no Rift S is shown in devices menu.
Where on earth is my Rift S registered to? There are no other accounts, no other email addresses. All web searched for help suggest that if a device is shown but the 'remove device' button is grayed out, it's due to the device not being 'owned' by the account that's logged in. I have the original packaging yet can't search by the serial number to determine which of my accounts owns the rig.
