I nust recieved my Rift a few days ago and my issue is that at rift is causing my rig to freeze (especially about a minute after launching Minecraft). I'll be playing smoothly and without problem until my screen and Rift both stop displaying and it would appear as though the entire rig is frozen. Not even the reset button on my motherboard will work and performing a hard shutdown is impossible. The only way to reset it is to cut power to my rig completely. Wasn't having a single problem until now.
My Rig: GPU: MSI RX 480 GDDR5 8GB CPU: AMD FX-9590 8 Core 4.7/5.0 GHz Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FX Memory: 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 IO: EVGA 500W HDD: WD Blue 1TB OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit)
This could be a overheating issue, that your PC is too hot. You should try FurMark and RealBench. The first is a GPU stress-test, the second is a CPU stress-test. Running these will show if either the CPU or GPU overheat.
I have the same problem, turn on my computer, launch a game and after a short time the computer freezes completely. Then, I hard reboot my computer and everything works without problem all day long. I don't know if it is oculus related though, I think it started after the last windows 10 update. It is very weird.
