Hey @mallis60! Thank you so much for reaching out about your controller issue. We understand that your Rift controller's are working fine up until you try to play a game. We definitely want you to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard to do if your controller's are not working so lets jump right into some helpful questions that will allow us to provide the best help possible!

  • Have you tried different play spaces?
  • Have these same controllers worked during gameplay before?
  • Are you using third-party accessories or covers with your device?
  • Are you experiencing this issue with both controllers?
  • Does it happen only in a certain game? Or are you having this issue with multiple games?

Once we have the answers to the questions above we will be able to proceed with some troubleshooting steps. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi if I launch games on meta app like they work ok but when load games from say steam like contractors showdown or onward the game starts in vr but controlers don’t work I can quit game and get into meta app with long hold on system button but can’t do anything in game. Everything works fine if I launch game in steam vr but it used to work better in oculus mode

Hey again @mallis60! Thank you for this additional information. We want you to try the following troubleshooting steps, and we've also including some links for cleaning and for pairing.

  • Ensure your area is well lit, with enough light to see clearly, but no direct sunlight
  • Ensure your area is free of small lights such as Christmas lights, or LED strips
  • Ensure your area is free of reflective surfaces such as mirrors, glass, or polished marble
  • Ensure the tracking cameras are clean
  • Ensure your environment is free of any obstructions between the tracking cameras and the controllers
  • Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection. For example, controller and headset covers, controller attachments, etc.
  • Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one
  • Unpair and pair the controller to the headset

Get back to us after you've given these a try. We look forward to your reply!
