Rift sensor issues, Is it power related?

For all those who have concluded that this may be a USB power issue.

Have you tried using a powered USB hub?

No and I'm not buying one to find out. If Oculus don't come up with a solution soon I'm returning my headset because I'm fed up with all this. I'll contact my card company today and let them sort out the refund if this isn't fixed anytime soon. Who tests all this stuff when doing updates? I have never in all the time I've had a computer experienced a device that has so many problems regarding usb ports.

I've had no issues with with black screen or sensor disconnects in 3 months since I have stopped using the inateck card and use the z97 3.0 motherboard ports. I only use the inateck card for button boxes etc.....

It's funny everyone is having such a huge problem with this.  Yet, for me it was resolved with a reboot after installing the update and I haven't seen any disconnect messages in a week.

You don't get a disconnect message. You just hear the usb disconnecting and connecting when you have taken the rift off. I use my own speakers so I can hear it constantly disconnecting and reconnecting when I'm not wearing it. People using Rift speakers may not even be aware it is happening because it's when you take the headset off. They might not hear it through the CV1 headphones.

Huh,  After digging through the event logs and watching devices page in Oculus Home, you're right.  Guess restarting just made the message stop showing up, still getting the sound if I put my headphones on and the HMD and camera keep going offline.

Lets just hope they release a patch quickly because this renders my CV1 useless.

Just wondering, are we all using Windows 10? Win10 is a total pain in relation to USB. It restricts USB power output and assumes that we are all on battery power.
I'm in a similar position as jdenny, no issues so long as I use the z97 MB ports, so it might be boiling down to MB chipset combinations.

If anyone does have success with a powered hub (that is, it fixes the problem they used to have), please post your findings to help the devs narrow it down.

I've tried motherboard usb 3.0 and usb 3.1 ports and I still get the sensor disconnect and reconnect. Oculus need to fix this fast because Windows 10 is the future. This computer cost me over £1600 because Oculus sais you need a highend computer. I can't get a higher spec computer then I have right now and I'm not going back to using windows 7 LoL. I even saw someone suggesting to try usb 2.0 when most of the new motherboards don't support usb 2.0 anymore.

I would try using an external hub, powered and unpowered, USB 3 and USB 2. Just to be sure that I've eliminated every combination.
