Right controller loses tracking and moves uncontrollably in VR

Hamrath

Hi,

since a few days I have the problem that my right controller is not in front of me anymore, but 2 meters away from me or moving uncontrollably through VR. This happened first in "Beat Saber". Suddenly my right saber wasn't in front of me anymore, but 2m to the right - or it moves from right to left by itself, like I'm throwing it. This also happens in "Trover Saves The Universe" (rarely) or "Ranket NX" (sometimes), but mainly in "Beat Saber". Other games seem to work fine, though. I tried to switch batteries, but had no luck.

Anyone knows about this problem and have a fix? My Quest 2 is only 5 weeks old and I really handle it with care.

Hey Hamrath, we hate to see you're having tracking issues with your right touch controller. Here are some troubleshooting steps we would love for you to consider:

  • Lighting
    • Is the play location well lit?
    • Is it possibly too bright?
    • Try a different play area/room.
  • Power
    • Are the batteries well charged?
    • Remove batteries for a couple of minutes and re-insert them
    • Try new/different batteries
  • Reboot the headset
  • Try re-pairing the controllers:
    • For the Quest 1 & 2, using the Phone App
    • For the Rift S, using the Oculus Home desktop software
  • Last resort: Factory reset (Quest Only)

If you are still having tracking issues after trying these troubleshooting steps, please let us know by submitting a support ticket. We are more than happy to look into our options.😊

Also check if the camera lens covers on the right side are clean (wipe them with microfiber cloth). Taking off/putting on headset your hands could have smudged the lens covers.
