SOLUTION - Wrong Oculus Account Linked to Facebook Account

Tribb

Waited a week for Oculus to fix my issue of wrong Oculus account tied to Facebook account. Library was empty. Found a solution on Reddit from iMason420.

Using a computer web-browser, Not The App, go to the Oculus website and login with the inncorrect account.

Make sure this is the Oculus account YOU DO NOT WANT, because you are going to delete that account:
Go to Profile, Privacy Center, Delete Your Oculus Data

You will be brought to the Facebook site to complete the deletion.

Now you can log in to the Oculus App with your good Oculus account and link it to Facebook. Note: I had to delete the Oculus App cache.

Tried that hippystuff1 - still didnt work, but have finally heard back from Oculus who say that I have to give it another 7 days before the wrong oculus account is fully deleted, then I should be able to merge the two accounts I do want to keep. I'm slightly sceptical but keeping everything firmly crossed!

Likely story. I'm just about ready to chase a refund. As an early adopter, this experience has been abysmal. Almost $800 for a paper weight and a bit of rope. A week of shipping delays, then 2 weeks waiting for zero solution and zero support. Absolutely not happy.

Can anyone point me to a phone number, or return forms & address?

This is now crazy.
Surely the biggest and first thing that should be addressed is that customers can use the product.

And I also have the same issue. 5 days without any action except "Our team will look into this and follow up with you as soon as possible." response.

I have the same problem. My Facebook account had a different email address to my oculus account and when I turned on my quest 2 it created a new oculus account and linked it to my Facebook. I've deleted the oculus account, however, it is saying it could take up to 90 days to process. Currently unable to link my oculus account (with all my purchases) to Facebook and as such cannot use my quest 2.

I've always had a great experience with oculus support, so I am hoping they will respond soon. They must be struggling to process the requests.

This issue was easily foreseen, and completely avoidable. The fact that they implemented the Facebook requirement at the same time as new hardware release set themselves up for failure. I also don't think they did much, if any testing on account merging.

Additionally making a piece of hardware completely unusable without a social media account is just not right and may prove to be illegal at some point in the future.

Are you still waiting to get this fixed? I see you posted originally on the 22nd.

yup. original ticket was sent on Oct 11. Email reply on Oct 15: "rest assured we'll look into it and get back to you ASAP"

On Oct 22 I found this thread and tried deleting the old account. No luck. Chat support tickets, "rest assured, your concern has been escalated and we'll get back to you ASAP"... nothing.

I'm contacting chat support again. I'm not email responding to the original ticket because I've heard that it resets the ticket place in the queue. I'm a couple days out from the last day for returns. That's my tripwire to send it all back and say goodbye to oculus/facebook forever.

Well thats not true. Got my quest 2 yesterday and accidently signed in with my facebook account and linked it to wrong email. Correct email has oculus account and games. So I saw some guide to delete that wrong facebook account. I did it but it can take a 20 days to delete it. So O cannot link my working oculus account to fb cause its just waiting to be deleted. Support tickets done but they cannot do anything. Asking to reset passwords and some other bullsht. Customer service is a freaking joke. Stupid facebook link and customer support ruined a good product.

Be alert if considering of buying something from oculus. Customer support is not on this planet.

I opened a ticket with the same problem at 23 October. First real question was on 5 November to change password of wrong account. I did but it changed nothing and haven't heard anything since then. Have a product which I can not use and feel totally let down by support. I am desperate!
