[SOLVED] Charging Light Will not Turn On, No Response to On Button - Oculus Go

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just got my new headset, used it for about 15-20 mins and then plugged it in to charge while heading out for the night (charging light was on).

Came home last night and the charging light was off, with the power button not responding to anything.

Tested the Charger and Micro USB with other devices, which all charge other devices, just not the Oculus GO.

Any thoughts, ideas, tips here?

Thanks!

With unit unplugged holding down "-" volume and power button for 20-30 secs, and then plugging into PC USB made Oculus logo display briefly.  Orange light is back on and unit is charging.  Same steps didn't work with unit plugged into wall adapter.

None of these solutions worked for my OG. what has worked is using a different charger; the odd part of this solution is that depending a upon the "dead" level of the battery, will determine what charger will work. example, if my OG is 'dead-dead-on -the-shelf-dead', I have to use my fast charger from my old Lenovo Phab 2 Proc[remember those?]; if its just 'dead' but the red light comes on, I have to use my security charger for my ARLO cameras; and if it's just low around 15-20%, I can use the OG charger. It seems that is wants a specific range of "voltage & amps" for a specific level of "dead". I hope this helps. [Lenovo rapid charger 5.2v / 2amp]  [ARLO netgear 5v / 1.1amp]  [OG 5v / 2amps]

Someone else posted a similar issue, they had to hold the on button for around 20 seconds and it restarted correctly.

this guy! thanks!

I reckon I had to hold the button longer than 20-30 sec, but eventually worked, with charge cord attached. I was almost ready to bin it. Weird, I guess it occurs when battery is super drained?

This is what I found worked. Plug it into a USB (mine was plugged into a Mac). Good down all three button on the top of the OG (the power button and both volumes) and then wait out to 20-30 seconds

boom

Same for me, I had to test with various different cables to get a light to turn on.  I used 5 different cables and one eventually worked after none of the 20-30sec button press tricks worked.

Just to add to the solutions, pressing the power and volume down buttons simultaneously and then choosing restart worked for me.

This worked for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

The reboot only worked for me once I had had the Oculus plugged into my computer's USB port with the provided cable for around 30 minutes. Gl to those trying to get theirs working, definitely a frustrating process...

Worked for me. Mine is now charging / suddenly came on after following the directions above.

What worked for me is contacting Oculus support and having them send me a new one.
