Looked at a bunch of other posts and cant solve this issue. My headset was working fine until today where i was forced to get a using a meta account. Since then all i get is a "Facebook Session Expired" error. I've uninstalled Facebook and Oculus apps and reinstalled, no change. I created a new FB account and Linked it but again when i open the Oculus Gear VR app i get that error, rebooted the device, no change, removed all FB accounts from my device (S9+) and added only the new account, no change. My old Oculus account doesn't work as i get a "No network Connection" error there. WTF is up with Meta forcing users into this crap that is rife with issues. And I cant raise a ticket because there is no support option for Gear VR. And I refuse to buy a $400 headset just on principle...My existing one worked just fine until today.

I having the same issue but with a Galaxy 9s+, please help

Solution:

1) Logged into meta account on a PC.

2) Turned off two-factor authentication on website.

3) On Note 8 Opened Meta Quest app (Installed from google app store).  This gives an option to setup your VR device, I selected GearVR.  That launched Occulus app ( This was the app that was installed when I first setup GearVr years back.

4) Clicked "Sign in"

5) Now once logged into Occulus app. I re-plug into GearVr and it solved the issue.

I wont logout of the occulus app on note8, just closed it, as this might again cause same problems. I can use installed GearVr apps even if WiFi is off.

I finished off by re-enabling two factor authentication on meta website.

Hope this helps others, dealing with the "no internet connection" message.

I would never have thought about doing that, brilliant.  Turning of two-factor-authentication worked.  I re-enabled it after Gear VR was working.  It also works with Wi-Fi off.  If you want to keep 2FA, i don't think its a good idea to logout of the Occulus app.

turning off two factor authentication does not work and tons of people tried it before. None worked.

Surprised how it worked for you, since the same message that says "no internet connection" has nothing to do with the two factor authentication.

I recently dug out my old Galaxy S9+ and thought I would have a go with the VR and have the same issue.
I have never seen such a convoluted mess of hoops in my life with any process, the kicker is that it doesent even work at the end of it. I also have a no network issue which you cant seem to get passed. I have an old S8+ knocking about somewhere I may try with that as well, but I will probably just end up doubling down on my frustrations. The annoyance is that it used to work and there were no issues. That must have been seen as to simple.

Hi, support, seeing as everyone else here has more or less the same the same issue, why not dispense with the PMs and just answer the questions on here, providing a fix to the issue. As the issue looks to be with the software and its ties to facebooks, the issue wouldnt be with any personal account detail as we all wouldnt have the same issue on multiple different devices, the only common factor is the software.

Hi to anyone still having the same issue.  You could go to your mobile and delete all VR apps that were installed prior to transition from occulus to meta account.  I manually looked at all apps on my note 8.  Uninstall each one that has anything to do with occulus.

Then re-insert your mobile into the Gear VR head set.  It will tell you to remove and let it install apps.  Then go to google store and download the meta quest app.  Login on your mobile on the meta quest app.  In meta quest app, If you scroll to the top there is an option to setup your VR device.  I selected Gear VR.  I didnt do anything more than that to get it work.  Perhaps I was just lucky.
