You have download the "media log file" to a desktop than transfer it your device. Run the file and it should
update make sure your oculus app is open when you update. Might have to click on one of your apps or
restart afterwards but should work.

Thanks for the suggestion, but still not working for me.

Hey Octoon
Could you share the link for the "media log file"? I've been trying to get mine to work for days but haven't had any luck.
Thanks

Hi, How do you delete the files?

Same problem here (see pic at the bottom of this post)
[Gear VR, with Samsung Galaxy s9, android v10]. Was working perfectly fine until Dec.01/2023.
This is either a temporary problem with Oculus/meta software update servers, or, an end to their allowing Gear VR devices to function using Oculus/meta software entirely.
I'm really glad its not just me (indicating it isn't bad software/hardware in my own specific device that's causing the problem).
I was in touch with Meta support yesterday (Dec.06); They dismissed/shuffled the issue away saying they were unable to offer any help regarding Samsung devices, even though it was possibly (extremely likely, now that I've seen this thread here) an issue with Oculus/meta VR software.
I later talked to Samsung support - they were at least willing to try and help (without dismissing the issue or pushing it back towards Meta/Oculus), but unfortunately, they were also pretty clueless about the issue. Even after escalating the issue to the higher-ups, the best they could do was direct me to a local Samsung repair center... *sigh*.
This is the screen I believe most/all of us are getting:

Tried the solution kindly offered by @kuku187 , (tried it a few times) but I'm still left with the setup-wizard screen showing:
"Oculus Media Plugin (0.0MB)"
and
"Network error occurred"
(when the setup-wizard starts, after plugging in/unplugging the phone from the GearVR)
I've confirmed my phone indeed has "Oculus Media Plugin v1.0" installed. Frustrating.
I really appreciate the attempt to help here though @kuku187 - if you were able to get your own setup up and running again with those steps, happy for ya 🙂 If anyone else has any success with this, pls let us know!

Hello everyone, sorry for the late reply. I'll try again later and write down every step, maybe you'll be able to do it afterward.

hay, it is important that you delete all files from oculus under settings and apps!
Example: gear VR > Clear cache / Clear data.
Once this has happened, put the cell phone in your glasses and as soon as the setup assistant appears, take the cell phone out again.
Now the setup menu appears where you confirm the terms and conditions.
Leave this open and install the downloaded apps.
Then switch back to the setup assistant and accept it.
This recognizes that the installed apps are available and redirects you to the main menu of meta.

I found a solution. It is not about cache or clear data. It is about to cheat installer. Installer must think that it did it itself. To do it. You need go to settings on your phone and uninstall everything with OCULUS in name to buy some time to switch during installation. Then download OCULUS MEDIA PLUGIN APK. But don't install it ! Put your gear vr and setup will run. Now is important. When installer will start download other components, switch screen to files and run APK. It must be installed same time when installer is downloading other components. Then it think it downloaded and installed OCULUS MEDIA PLUGIN itself and setup is going on. Point of deleting other components is only to buy a time to switch screen to run APK.
Good luck guys. Sad thing is, it mean there is no update at all, because you use same old APK and everything is working. So why they did it ? Maybe to convince you to buy new hardware 😐

THIS WORKED! please go try this guys, just delete the Oculus apps and as you initialize the installation using Gear VR service in developer mode, quickly go to your Media Plugin APK and install it and voila.
