@xellosmasterYou beautiful genius! Your solution worked!! I honestly thought your idea of "cheating" the installer was a load of bs, lol BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKED! Thanks!
I think @kuku187 's had the solution yesterday, but that previous post was perhaps a bit rushed... kuku's more recent post with further step by step detail is effectively doing the same thing tricking the installer, so thanks again to @kuku187 for that also 🙂

The issue that is so annoying is planned obsolescence that should be illegal. When I bought these virtual reality glasses I really didn't think that in such a short time they would be made useless.
In my case, I contacted meta and they responded that they have no plans to give more updates and offered me a discount to purchase the meta quest 2 glasses. D%mn b@st...ds
@kuku187's solution worked (I hope for a long time) in my case I completely uninstalled the oculus application, so cheating the installer I had to download other apks "gear vr system", "oculus Browser", "oculus core mobile " and "oculus system utilities" to be able to reinstall my glasses.
In any case, if they become completely useless, I would definitely NOT purchase meta glasses but other brands.

I'm glad that it works for some people. I'm now trying to turn off automatic updates and see if it happens again. I might also recommend you.

Yes that's correct.
ONCE IS WORKING AGAIN TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES.

Hey xellosmaster!
Thanks for the solution you posted.
However when i put my phone into gear vr same grey picture coming up all the time saying "One UI 4" is not compatible with new versions. I have a samsung galaxy 10s device and the android version got updated to android 12. Could this maybe have anything to do with it? If I cant solve this i want to ask you if i can buy some other VR glasses that works with my samsung 10s, its a 6.4 inch screen. Suggestions would be very welcome. Samsung support couldnt help at all, or well they wouldnt rather. Thanks in advance! / Gary

It is different problem. I have S8+ with old android and no problems. When I searched for "samsung gear vr android 12" in Google, there are many threads already. You have to read that. My first thoughts...maybe downgrade to android 11...for sure it is something with android 12.

Here is a quicker solution that worked for me, along the lines of tricking the installer to think that it successfully installed the Oculus Media Plugin. Assuming you have already downloaded the APKs, while the "network error" screen was still showing I installed only the "mediaplayer" APK. (Apparently I have been through this drill before on my Galaxy S8 because it was still showing under my recent files in the Files app.) My file was "com.oculus.mediaplayer_1.0-53624647_minAPI19(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk". After installing it the Oculus Home screen popped open. I put the phone in the headset, and it worked.
Note that I had deleted cache for all of the "Oculus" installed apps just prior to doing this. I am not sure if that played a part in getting things working again, but I didn't have to uninstall anything. I just installed the APK mentioned above after seeing the "network error".
