Hey guys, I don't see a way for me to search specifically within this post's thread regarding the Galaxy Note 9 and my symptoms, so please direct me to a post if there exists one. I have followed the instructions throughout this thread and have successfully restored access to Gear VR and access Skybox to watch my videos. The one symptom I am now experiencing is that anytime I open up an application which pulls me out of the home lobby, I am unable to return back to my library. This happens regardless of what application I access. If I access YouTube, I can watch all the videos there just fine. If I try to go back to my library, the screen stays black with audio playing in the background. This occurs no matter what application I access. The audio remains playing in the background, the screen goes black when I try to return back to the main library.
Has anyone encountered this?
Thanks.

Hello,
Hope everyone is well. First let me give a shout out to this post thread & all who tried to help out. I followed everything I could to partial success & eventually came into more issues. However, for my particular scenario, I executed a series of tasks that may possibly work for someone & was flawless for me.
As a primer, let me recap that I initially had the same symptom as most others where when I attached my Samsung device to the Gear VR, I was greeted with a message instructing me to detach my phone & update all the Gear VR apps. Upon detaching my phone, the Gear VR SetupWizard launched & displayed all nine (9) Oculus apps that purportedly needed updating. The below path was what I took to achieve flawless success. I am on Android version 10 for this little project.
Below is the method I implemented:
A. Go into your Samsung device’s “Settings”, then go into “Apps”.
Important: maintain the Gear VR SetupWizard open & running in the background at all times.
Below you will find the name of each Oculus app that the Gear VR SetupWizard should display since, by this point, all of the required Oculus apps should’ve been uninstalled. Below I will list these apps in the same chronological order listed in the Gear VR SetupWizard which should be installed in the same order. I will link you both the webpage where the app can be downloaded from while I will also hyperlink for you, as an added courtesy, the actual download address for each app so that you can merely click the hyperlink here & the download should initiate right away. Below you’ll also be provided with the app “version” number. Be informed that some of the Oculus apps share the same version number.
APK Mirror: all nine (9) Oculus apps required by the Gear VR SetupWizard . . .
When downloading some of these APK’s, do not be puzzled at some of their file names which could cause someone to think they’ve downloaded an incorrect APK. For example, the Oculus VR app will have the word “home” in its APK file name while the Oculus “Home” app will also. As you install each app, you should see the correspondent grayed-out app in the Gear VR SetupWizard turn blue with a checkmark on the left side. This indicates that the Gear VR SetupWizard recognizes the app is updated/installed & thereafter the Gear VR SetupWizard must disappear on its own. Continue to go through the remainder of the login process to finish up. Thereafter, it's a whole other animal to get apps elsewhere which are no longer viewable in the "Store" within your Gear VR home environment. Gear VR is not yet dead.
Thanks for reading & please let me know if this worked out for you.
Best wishes.

Please kindly pardon my typos in my comment prior to this one (the one where I provide the tutorial). I was composing that whole tutorial on my mobile cell phone and then transitioned over to a laptop then my cell phone again.
Somewhere along the lines I had maybe one or two words incorrectly typed and my enumerated list that began with the letter A somehow turned into numbers and back into letters again. 🤣
Have a great day!

That would be nice if only it were true.

I concur that there is no internal resolution. This is why I posted my tutorial right before your comment. I forgot to indicate in that tutorial that netguard firewall is required to sustain the solution

I have a S7 phone and used this solution : Unbrick Your GearVR | The Gear VR Codex
Work fine since two weeks and updates are blocked with NetGuard app to prevent this situation in the future
Hoping this guide will help you out
