Samsung had a kill switch implemented in the VR Gear Setup Wizard APK. When the Installation files are no longer accessible during an online startup check - the device ceases to work. This has been activated. They should be sued into oblivion as this is the worst attack on consumers I`ve ever witnessed. I have spent > 1000$ on the device, additional hardware and dozens of games in the store - a device which has been turned unusable by the vendor.

Within the Samsung VR Gear Setup Wizard APK there are readable string entries:

com/samsung/android/app/vrsetupwizard/system/receivers/UpdateCheckIntentReceiver
public onReceive -> com.samsung.android.app.vrsetupwizard.action.REQUEST_VR_APP_UPDATE_VRSW

The APK extension "com.Samsung.android" is the clear evidence it is a Samsung.com owned software which blocks the device from startup.

This behavior is even worse as there are reports that Samsung is working on another VR Headset...
If anyone is intending to sue Samsung I`d be more than happy to participate.

Hey bud, I apologize if there was a mistake, but just go to APK Mirror and look for the file named: 3. com.oculus.horizon_9.0.0.257.473-209257727_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com. That's what I have and that's what worked for me. I got it from APK Mirror. I am attaching a screenshot of how I saved the files on my drive. The order you see them titled, is the order I install them, which follows the order you see in the Gear VR Install Wizard interface. Hope this helps.

This time the app permanently crashes with the message: "oculus has stoped"  and "open app again".

And I'm not the only one:
