I got my Meta Quest 2 Christmas of 2021. I have had it for about a year and 3 months. The first game I got was Resident Evil 4. I beat the game multiple times, and completed most of the bonus missions and other unlockables as well. About 2 weeks ago, I got on the game to show a friend and play for a while, but the only option was “new game.” None of my save files or any data for that matter, was on the game. I quit out of the game, and soft reset the headset, when I started the game back up all of my data was still gone. This whole time I have had save to cloud data turned on, I also never uninstalled the game… Why in the world are 100s of hours of gameplay completely gone? How could something like this happen, Please tell me there is a way to fix this.

Hey @BetterCallPaul8 or is it Better Call Saul?! We know how troubling it can be to just lose your saved data for a game randomly. We'll like to do all that we can to look into this for you. Since you said that you had Cloud Backup enabled already, we'll like for you to go here to double checked that your game data is backed up. When you get there, please follow these steps as well.
After you check, please reach back out and let us know what you see.

When I click on that link, it takes me to a screen that says “Whoops. Looks like you are lost, let’s get you back to home.”

Okay that's wonderful news. Since the game is backed up, we want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Hopefully that'll bring back your saved data to the game. Please reach back out with a update whenever you get the chance.

Bad news. I uninstalled the game after I got home from work yesterday. I let it install again last night as I was sleeping. This morning I checked the game and there is still no option to load any of my old files and all of my data in both the story mode and mercenaries is gone. I still really want to know how this happened so it can be avoided with my other games in the future and if there is anything that can be done about me losing over 100 hours of time in that game that I cannot get back. The game has been saved in the cloud and I have never deleted any of the data on it. I just don’t understand how something like this could happen so randomly.

Thanks for reaching back out with this update. We do see that other people within the community are experiencing trouble with Resident Evil save files. However, as for this particular case. We'd recommend reaching out to the developers since they'll be able to get a better look into any issues and provide further details for any game related questions.
Believe us when we say we do get how concerning it can be to put in so much time on a game, and have it all disappear within a instance. We hope they can get you your game data back and get this all situated for you.
