Sensor/camera - no tracking possible

I just bought (again) a Oculus Rift, but I have a problem with the included sensor/camera. I'm sitting around 3m away from the sensor, but a tracking is not possible (I got an error that I have to setup again the tracking and/or change the distance between sensor and Rift. Strange, because I used another Rift in the past and had no issues! Is the sensor defect?

Furthermore I remember that I can setup the eye distance (controller on the button of the rift) up to 71mm - now only 69mm are possible. But I'm not sure... could someone please have a look?

Thanks.

Sounds like you are too far away from it.
3m is a long distance.
You can change your IPD with the same roller underneath and cgar k what it's set to in the utility menu.

I would recommend the search function in furry as this is all well known and documented stuff

As written - I have this issue with the new rift and never before 😞
What is the maximum IPD on your rift - 71mm?

Higher than that I think. Not sure without checking. I ain't on my pc at the mo.

3m is most likely too far away. Does it work when you are closer to it? If so then that's deff the issue

Strange is, that the tracking was accepted during the setup. The problem occurs during the first steps within the rift (you will see the first "virtual" tracking of the sensor).

What I don't understand - if I check the setup of the 360 tracking it looks like that one or more sensors must have a distance of 3m (the sensors are installed in the corner of the ceiling).

Attached you will find an overview of my room / playarea and Position of the sensors.

Any suggestions?

Here is a helpful read that helped me with my setup: https://www.oculus.com/blog/oculus-roomscale-tips-for-setting-up-a-killer-vr-room/

3m according to the blog post is right at the edge of what would be good tracking with a 2-sensor setup, and from my experience with the RIFT, "Sensor 3" isn't really helping the other 2 sensors in your seated position, unless you turn your head to the right.

If you want better tracking results from your seated position, you'll have to bring your seat closer to sensors 1 and 2, or bring those sensors closer to you. Although it says good tracking can be achieved up to 10ft, I've noticed tracking drop off at around the 8-9 ft area (which still isn't too bad IMO, we're talking about light sensors). But what this really means, is that if you want tracking to be solid, you'll need to have your HMD and touch controllers tracked within a 0.5m-2.5m-ish range from the sensors (assuming 2 sensors have an unobstructed line of sight. With only 1 sensor with a line of sight, tracking drops to the 0.5m-1.8m range).

To sum it up:
Sensor 1 & 2 are too far from your seated position to be effective, and sensor 3 probably isn't helping the other two sensors much, if at all.
If you wish to keep that seated position, you'll have to move sensor 1 and sensor 2 closer to you.

Something to try though, if you wish to keep your seated position:
Try one sensor placed right in front of your current seated position (placed ontop of the TV or very close to it so the sensor can face you head-on)
Place the other two sensors to the left and right of your seated position. If looking at the diagram above, and assuming the usual cardinal directions, these would be placed near the midpoint of the West and East walls.
In the end (with this setup) you would hopefully get better tracking with a closer-front facing camera, and have the other two help out with touch positioning, all from your seated position.
