3m according to the blog post is right at the edge of what would be good tracking with a 2-sensor setup, and from my experience with the RIFT, "Sensor 3" isn't really helping the other 2 sensors in your seated position, unless you turn your head to the right.
If you want better tracking results from your seated position, you'll have to bring your seat closer to sensors 1 and 2, or bring those sensors closer to you. Although it says good tracking can be achieved up to 10ft, I've noticed tracking drop off at around the 8-9 ft area (which still isn't too bad IMO, we're talking about light sensors). But what this really means, is that if you want tracking to be solid, you'll need to have your HMD and touch controllers tracked within a 0.5m-2.5m-ish range from the sensors (assuming 2 sensors have an unobstructed line of sight. With only 1 sensor with a line of sight, tracking drops to the 0.5m-1.8m range).
To sum it up:
Sensor 1 & 2 are too far from your seated position to be effective, and sensor 3 probably isn't helping the other two sensors much, if at all.
If you wish to keep that seated position, you'll have to move sensor 1 and sensor 2 closer to you.
Something to try though, if you wish to keep your seated position:
Try one sensor placed right in front of your current seated position (placed ontop of the TV or very close to it so the sensor can face you head-on)
Place the other two sensors to the left and right of your seated position. If looking at the diagram above, and assuming the usual cardinal directions, these would be placed near the midpoint of the West and East walls.
In the end (with this setup) you would hopefully get better tracking with a closer-front facing camera, and have the other two help out with touch positioning, all from your seated position.
