Hello Meta Community,
I wanted to bring attention to a frustrating issue affecting Meta Quest 3 users when a child account is the first to register on a new device.
Here’s the Catch-22 situation:
If a parent’s child registers first on a new Meta Quest 3, Meta does not permit the promotional game download (Batman: Arkham Shadow), since it's rated PEGI 16 and not visible to the minor’s account. The parent, in turn, cannot access the promo game either, as the device is now activated under the child’s account. This has led to the unfortunate result of being unable to claim the promised promo content.
Currently, Meta Support has no solution, except for offering a goodwill refund of 30 euros, which is nice, but doesn’t cover the game’s full price of 45 euros. It’s disappointing that Meta hasn’t acknowledged this issue or provided a permanent fix, leaving parents and guardians without the intended promo benefit.
I hope Meta addresses this flaw soon, as it’s a significant inconvenience for families using Meta Quest.
Thank you!

At least they offered you some credit. I asked for credit and their response was there was nothing they could do. When asked for a supervisor they quit responding.

Yes, I was lucky to get connected to a very helpful person from customer support. It is irritating, though, that Meta does not provide a general quick fix for this obvious registration problem. Did you find a solution in the end? My second idea was resetting the metaquest and bonding it to my adult account first. But in the end I did not risk it, as it would have required deleting all my data from the device.

I did try that. I am still unable to download it because the game is bound to my son’s account. I am still trying to see if they will give me credit so he can get a different game.

Ok, so resetting the device does not help either. 🤔 I hope Meta will eventually tackle this issue. It is really incredibly bothersome and unfair that they do not react. It would be such a simple fix for them to provide parents with full access to the device! I wonder if it is even legal to advertise the metaquest with a promo game that customers are unable to receive.

Hey there, In order to create a parent managed account, you must first create an adult account.
The batman game can be downloaded on the adult account but cannot be redeem in the child account as it has an age restriction.
If you are unable to redeem the game please contact us by private message and we will investigate your case. Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Hi @GlowingWren1675 🙂
try the steps in the guide
Redeem your Meta Quest app, game or subscription promotion | Quest help
Also, does your son meet the age restriction for Batman?
If he is old enough, but still can't redeem the game, send a PM @MetaQuestSupport
click on their name to visit their profile page, then click the "send message" button.
Some users reported they could not redeem the game, after talking to support they could.

As this was never disclosed as being unavailable to anybody under the age of 13, I think this offer qualifies as a “bait and switch.” Anybody interested in joining a class action lawsuit?
