Here is some background. I originally bought a Meta Quest 2 Headset for it's standalone features as well as it's quest link capabilities. However, as I have recently been playing Beat Saber on the PCVR version, I've been noticing that the controllers seem delayed, fast controller movement isn't registering well, there is a CRAP TON of input lag, etc. and it's becoming a big issue (this is all with a link cable!). After reading for a while, I've come to the conclusion that the Quest 2 is not necessarily a great option for PCVR (especially for games like Beat Saber).
Here is the thing. I've been trying to find solutions for the Quest and also trying to find out if the Rift Headsets are good enough for high quality, low latency Beat Saber. Does anyone know solutions for the Quest? If not, here are some other questions, (which is why I put this in the Rift section on the forum):
- Would I have similar issues with the Rift headset?
Will Beat Saber (specifically) run as well as native Quest 2 Beat Saber runs?
- What is the tracking situation with Rift headsets?
Is the tracking built in like the Quest, or does it have sensors like the HTC Vive?
- Does it have built in software?
Does it have features like Virtual Desktop (not the app but the Quest Link feature)?
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: Does it work with SteamVR?
It would kinda suck if I couldn't play Beat Saber with a headset I bought for that purpose...
(Oh, and do my PC oculus app games carry across?)
Thanks in advance to the (probably non-existent) audience of this question...

Beat saber should run as well on Rift (if your PC is capable) as it does natively on Quest 2. It'll also look prettier albeit at a lower resolution.
The original Rift uses external tracking using USB cameras. Rift-S uses internal tracking like Quest 2.
Quest Link (and virtual desktop) are irrelevant as Rift (and Rift-S) are native PCVR headsets. They are useless without a wired (HDMI on Rift, Displayport on Rift-S) PC connection.
It works perfectly with SteamVR and your PC game purchases will carry across if you use the same account.
The native Quest 2 version of Beat Saber doesn't normally have the input lag issues of the PCVR version on Link, but you'd have to buy it again because Meta sure does love taking your money.

Don't buy the rift s, Support from oculus is horrible, I had a faulty wire after a year of use and they refused any help, even if I was still in warranty time.
Better to go vive tbh, it might cost a bit more but at least they have functional customer support.
