Similar spec to me can tell me their performance? Gtx1070, i5-4690k.

Im having what I think is below expected performance with my system. I have gtx1070 on most recent driver, i5-4690k no OC, 8 gb ram, win 10.

I am getting choppy performance in dirt rally on medium with 4 msaa. I ran afterburner on screen (looking at the monitor while the benchmark runs on the rift) and can see that gpu usage never goes above 60% (core clock does boost but gpu usage remains between 40 - 60 %).

Cpu usage is higher at around 86% - 90%.

Is my cpu bottlenecking? Anybody else have a similar spec having same issue?

You should disable AA and you should be alright.

I think my question is should my gpu only be using 40 - 60%. Im losing about half the power of the card and not hitting 90fps most of the time. No matter what I do in nvidia control panel I cant get the card to fully utilise. And i thought an i5-4690k would not be a bottleneck

Another post here references stuttering problems with the latest geforce drivers (354.72?) and rolling back to the earlier drivers fixed it.  Try rolling back the drivers to the previous release, I think it's 368. something.  It's on geforce website

Plus in 3d settings in nvidia control panel set to max performance 🙂 and voila !!!

Thanks for the suggestions but I did try older drivers already and setting max performance and multiple display performance mode in control panel.

Gpu still only reaches max 60% usage. Meanwhile any 2d games on my monitor get the gpu to 100% usage and everything works fine and performance is good.

I uninstalled oculus software and reinstalled. Did clean install of nvidia drivers after cleaning all trace including registry.

I cant figure it out. I thought maybe my cpu is causing a bottleneck because usage in comparison is high at 80s or 90s but its a good cpu so I dont know why it would be a bottleneck.

I dont know if it makes any difference but I am playing dirt rally through steam not oculus home. I noticed bad performance while playing assetto corsa as well but i never checked afterburner for that game, just noticed the frames dropping noticeable while I was playing
