Sorry, we encountered an error during installation

I keep getting the "Sorry, we encountered an error during installation" error after downloading then redownloading and redownloading the Oculus software.

I have:
Fully uninstalled previous Oculus software
Gone through the full permissions restoration via regedit (no prompts came up)
Disconnected all Oculus hardware
Win 10 64bit

Are there any other solutions?

I know I am not alone with this problem.  Has Oculus actually acknowledged that this is a problem? Is there a fix incoming?

Also tried uninstalling Visual C++ 2015 but no change...

I'm also dealing with this. My CV1 is on a truck for delivery so I'd kind of like the software to work...

Managed to get OculusSetup to complete successfully.

It seems the problem for me was Unity's latest update installed a more recent Visual C++ redist. I uninstalled all Visual C++ 2015 entries, cleared out C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Oculus, rebooted, and the installation completed successfully.

If you are getting an error, opening that directory will have an OculusSetup.log that should be able to direct you to exactly what is causing the issue.

Actually it looks like I've solved it for my predicament. I unchecked read-only on the Oculus folder properties in Program Files before running the installer and it finally installed. It reverts back to read only after the installation but that isnt a problem as it all runs fine now.

I had to disable McAfee's realtime scan to install Oculus.  This was the AV included on my Asus Oculus VR Ready bundle.

Disabling McAfee worked for me

Yes, disabling the antivirus realtime scan feature did the trick for me too.http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-McAfee

In our company-provided workstation, IT had to uninstall "McAfee VirusScan Enterprise". Just disabling it didn't do it.  Interestingly, Oculus Setup installed just fine in another workstation, didn't have to mess around with McAfee.
