Steam Link Audio not working with latest update

EmmaTorch

As of the recent firmware update which was pushed through to me just today, I no longer have audio through Steam Link on the Quest Pro. It appears others are experiencing this issue as well. Quest 2 seems to be unaffected by it, I'm not sure about Quest 3.

I am hoping there will be a new update to resolve this issue soon? I'm not sure how to fix this.

o_0 how does an update affect the headphone jack? Does the testing before release only consider people are using the built in speakers? I'm sorry, that does not sound like this firmware update was properly tested before release.

Right

What is the temporary fix something that helped you? I'm curious.

I feel we did a great job figuring out a temporary fix something that oculus couldn't even help us with but I think it's important that we make sure that they stay on top of a permanent fix. We're watching you meta lol

This is a new pc and was working fine with my headset until I started using 'Steam Link'. Then I got horrible feed back so I started changing my PC audio settings. Now I am getting an error on Meta start up that shows a hardware error 'No headset audio'. The headset works fine except for the mic. I am unable to run Steam VR with this error. Help! It has to be a setting in windows 11 but I cannot find anything wrong.

What settings change did you make? I'm a little confused when you say Steam Link because as far as I was aware, that's Valves wireless VR software... it's an alternative to Meta's AirLink and the Rift-S isn't wireless, it uses the Rift's PC software and cable only. Are you sure you're not just using SteamVR?

SteamVR is used in conjunction with the Rift PC software to play Steam games that aren't natively in your Rift library.

The problem could be coincidental of course. A problem with the cable, the headset connections or a Windows update causing an issue. But either way, it would be useful to know what setting change you made.

I have to use steam link to access the Vortex software to start my modded Skyrim VR . I was getting audio feedback from the mic (assumption) so I jumped into every mic setting I could find to stop the feedback. The only way I could solve the problem was to switch the audio from headset to monitor which has no mic. I am new to windows 11 and cannot recall what I changed.

What I need to do is reset factory settings and reinstall everything before I changed it I guess. Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor 4.20 GHz

I'm also experiencing this issue on a brand new Quest Pro running firmware version 65. If I try to use the Meta Quest Pro VR Earphones then Steam Link fails to send any audio to the headset.

If I unplug the earphones and reboot the Quest Pro then the built-in headset speakers work correctly with Steam Link. If I plug in the earphones at this point then Steam Link will once again become unable to send audio, even if the earphones are later unplugged. Only a reboot with already-unplugged earphones works around the issue.

Until this issue is fixed my earphones are a $50 paperweight.
