Stop following a thread

How do you stop following a thread?  I don't need updates on every reply to a thread I commented on.

Make sure it didnt end up a Favorite (star). This happens to me too on accident.

There are notification settings on your profile page.

Yes I turned off the emails.  But I just thought choosing which notifications you get on here would be nice.  

I don't have topics starred, but I still get a huge list of replies from topics that I commented on, indefinitely.

Untick the boxes for "Notify me of comments in threads I've participated in" or something to that effect
