Stuck in three dots and can't get my rift s to work after oculus last update

The last time I used Oculus was August 27th. After it was prompted that the app needed to be updated, I did the update, and then the rift s couldn't start anymore, it kept stuck at the 3 dots startup screen.

I followed the official and others' tips, and have done the following operations..

· reconnect the usb
· update my graphics card driver
· reinstall oculus
· recover operating system win11 to August 16
· Update all hardware drivers
· Use an independently powered PCI to USB card

But these operations are useless, rift s still can't work properly.

Also, only one rift s usb hub displays in my device manager.I saw some posts saying that it is normal to have 2. I don't know if this is the reason.

I hope I can get your help.

Thank you.

@MetaQuestSupport are you going to address this issue at any time?

This - Update (v44) - broke - thousands - of - Rift S - Headsets!

It is NOT a  PCHardware issue, everywhere on Reddit, under your Youtube videos, in THIS Forum, in other Forums people are reporting the same thing: Everything worked fine, now as the App got an update, people get the "Sensors cant track Headset" issues.

If you look deeper into it, the only thing that doesnt work is the cameras. Rotation, Display, Controllers and everything else works fine, the recent update "just" broke the cameras.

I am absolutely stunned at how the support and the developers just doesnt seem to care that thousands of customers are FORCED to move to the competition by actions like that. Sure, the Index might be twice the price, but at least i wont have to buy a new one every two years because it gets broken by software updates...

Wow months later and still no fix????

they would have to admit that they're wrong because they have intentionally bricked a bunch of headsets with no intention to fix it. Just keep people running in circles and perhaps spend a little more money on a new headset and hopefully no one will see their errors....

As of writing this my headset is at Oculus being repaired. They say they can't find parts for it. So the update might actually have done some hardware damage. It's been almost two months since they received my headset. Bit sad really I've missed so many new VR Game releases and Can't play my library of VR titles. Come January I'll have to look for another headset.

This is the same thing happening to me now. Started about a 5 days ago, played fine before. Talked to tech support and did everything they suggested, nothing worked. Just got email saying they will replace mine. Don’t think it’s a hardware problem, must be some update they did. Anyone else fine a solution? Thanks

I've gone through support several times and the same headset doesn't work on a new gaming laptop either.... One thing I noticed is that in device manager there's one Rift S device and one unknown USB device that shows up after connecting the Oculus.

I can tell you what brand of headset I won't be buying again... My Rift S was not used much at all. What a waste of money. It's a $600 paperweight.

HI there @Lolhoo We understand how how frustrating connecting to PCVR can be, Not to worry, we can definitely lend you a hand with this. To get a better understanding of the situation, could you answer a few questions for us:

  • Could you please reseat the cable and inspect it for any kinks, sharp bends, damage, or bent pins?
  • Could you test to see if the issue persists on another computer?
  • Are you using any 3rd party cables or accessories?
  • Does this only happen in a specific app?
  • Do you meet the minimum system requirements?
  • Are your drivers fully up to date?
  • Are you running the app from an administrator account?
  • Please reinstall the Oculus Desktop App.

Let us know the following listed above helped with your PCVR issue. If not we would be happy to assist you further. Look forward to hearing back from you.

I've tried all of these. And on my partners PC which has the same set up. The same port he uses for his Index headset and it doesnt work.

So thanks to you guys bricking our headsets (on purpose and refuse to fix it) I am now the proud owner of a Valve index headset. You guys need to rethink this bs business tactic cause it's driving the customers away.

Oculus was meant to make VR accessible for everyone and yet with updates excluding USB drivers etc people wont return to buy new stuff cause how long until you brick the next set?

Please try the directory below if you haven't previously so that we can make sure the program isn't what's making the device malfunction.

1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer.

2. Disconnect your computer from the internet.
