Sudden compression/audio issues with PC Link

My Quest Pro has developed sudden compression and audio distortion issues this month using PC link. It had been working smoothly since I bought it in August. I have not changed any settings as I primarily use it for sim racing. Recently though the image quality was noticeably worse and my audio kept crackling and cutting out. It does this when just viewing my desktop in linked mode and in-game. Last night I noticed that when I unplug the PC link cable I get a flash of static for a second and the headset loses tracking entirely. After troubleshooting I am starting to think the headset itself is going bad. Has anyone else seen or had this issue?

 

Here is what I have tried so far with no change at all:

Multiple USB ports on motherboard (USB-A and C) and PC case

Complete fresh re-install of Oculus software

Factory reset of Oculus Pro headset

Multiple ODT settings including deviating from what previously worked on Quest 2/Pro

Swapping Link cable

Disabling settings like boundary, eye tracking, WiFi, etc.

Verified the issue exists in desktop mode and different games

You've really had no replies? I've had the same problem with my quest 3.

Hey there, @Powerbeamz! We definitely want for you to be able to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard to do if you run into audio issues! We would be happy to take a look into this if you can reply here with some more info for us:

 

  • Does it happen with all the applications, or is it limited to a specific program?
  • Does it change wherever you move?
  • Does it happen while you are inside or outside Oculus Home environment?
  • Does another Audio device (Speaker, Headphone, or Microphone) work normally?

The more information you can provide about what you are seeing, the better equipped we will be to help out.
