Super shaky hands, even when just using passthrough?

This has been happening for a while now and I can't pinpoint when it started, but I basically can't use hand tracking because the hands shake like crazy, and it's not just when hand tracking is on. If I use passthrough and walk around, everything looks normal. but the second my arms/hands come into view there is like a warped forcefield around them where they become super jittery and everything behind them does as well. Not sure if I'm describing it right... I assumed a few updates would fix it but it's still happening. The stutters even carry over into games, and the controllers themselves will stutter on occasion.

I've tried factory resets, multiple times. I've tried changing tracking frequencies. I've tried turning on and off hand tracking. Nothing seems to fix it. It's driving me crazy. Has anyone had this happen to them and if so, was there a fix?

Hey Dragon_Small_Z! We'd love to get your tracking to work as intended! Thanks for letting us know what steps you have taken, it really helps us narrow down the troubleshooting steps we have left! Below will be some of the steps we recommend for fixing tracking issues!

  • Contrast of your back ground area. Does your play area have a lot of different objects in the background, or objects on the wall? If so, that is good! if you are in a blank room with not much contrast between wall and floor, the tracking a act up as it is harder for the headset to track depth!
  • Lighting in your play area. Is your play area well lit? It is best to mess around with the lighting in your room to find the perfect middle ground between being bright and dark! Having a bunch of little lights; i.e. string or strip lights can effect the tracking of controllers and hands in a negative way!

Next are steps to complete on your device that have helped with tracking issues before! Please un-pair and re-pair your controllers as well as delete your guardian history!

Un-pair and re-pair controllers:

First,

  • Open the Oculus app on the phone.
  • Tap Settings from the bottom menu.
  • Tap the headset that is currently paired.
  • Tap Controller, then tap the desired controller to unpair.
  • Tap Unpair Controller.

After your controllers are unpaired, complete the following to repair your controllers

If not already done, insert the included battery into the controller, then tap Continue on the Oculus app.

  • Open the Oculus app
  • Tap Oculus Quest or Oculus Quest 2 in the top left corner of the Oculus app
  • Tap Settings in the bottom right corner of the app.
  • Tap Oculus Quest or Oculus Quest 2 under the user's name and email.
  • Tap Controllers then tap Left or Right to choose which hand you’d like to pair.

Next, clear guardian history:

1.Press oculus icon on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.

2.Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.

3.Select Settings in the top right corner.

4.Select Guardian from the left menu.

5. Select Clear Guardian History.

I'm not in an empty room, there is plenty of contrast, and like I said, in native games with the controller all seems fine, it's ONLY in hand tracking and PC games where the stutters happen. I've tried clearing the guardian, like I said I tried an entire factory reset and it doesn't seem to fix it. Unpairing the controllers did nothing, the issue seems to be with the headset, not the controllers.

Ive been having the same problem for sooooo loooong. I was really starting to think that I was the only one having this. Really hope this gets fixed for the both of us and if u found a way can you tell me?

connection bandwidth with pc is problem
