I am currently using the Meta Quest 3 and have been experiencing an issue with my controller's thumbstick drift. To mitigate this, I’ve been adjusting the thumbstick deadzone setting, which temporarily resolves the drifting.
However, I’ve noticed that whenever the controller disconnects and then reconnects—for any reason—the deadzone setting becomes ineffective, even though the value in the settings menu still appears to be unchanged. To make the deadzone setting work again, I have to manually re-adjust it each time this happens.
I have already tried the following steps to fix this issue:
Restarting the headset after setting the deadzone
Re-pairing the controllers
Unfortunately, the problem persists, and I find myself having to reset the deadzone repeatedly, which disrupts my experience.
Could you please assist me in resolving this issue or let me know if there is a known fix?
Thank you for your help

I can confirm this bug

@sriech if the headset is still in warranty, get meta to replace the controller. The inability to remember the new deadszone is probably due to the latest meta borkdate. The best option is to replace the bad joystick module. Tutorials on the 'Fix My Oculus' YouTube channel.

Update: PTC and Stable both affected, and resetting back to the factory settings does not help.

My controller has the same problem. And the only solution is to go back to settings, recalibrate the controller & reset the dead zone every 20 mins. Sad

There is a solution to this problem. Whilst the dead-zone resetting is a software problem, cleaning the stick with alcohol wipe and blowing air on it at the same time as pressing (clicking) it down at all angles can fix the hardware issue. It did for me
(If you use extra Isopropyl Rubbing alcohol to clean the controller, make sure you wait till it is dry before putting batteries back in (yes, remove them before cleaning)
